New episode is out now 🎙️

Nurse practitioner leaders from Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario talk about what the Canada Health Act feels like on the ground in 2026, and how quiet policy and privatization decisions are shaping who actually gets primary care, and who doesn’t.

They share real stories about patients stuck in the gaps, NP signatures being rejected on forms, and why NP associations are structural power if we want the system to change.

Chronic pain affects 1 in 5 Canadians. How are we ensuring that our clinicians are equipped to care for those who experience it?

ECHO Pain is a virtual health professions education program co-developed in 2014 by a team at UHN and Queen’s University. For over a decade, it has equipped health care professionals with the knowledge, confidence, and community to provide safe and effective chronic pain management for those who need it most.

As the program model continues to be adopted across Canada, a research team from UHN’s KThe KITE Research Institutehas identified several components behind its success, including strong program structure, a multidisciplinary program team, and continuous evaluation to meet the evolving needs of clinicians.

Their findings highlight how accessible, collaborative education can strengthen chronic pain care across the country.
