Today is World Teen Mental Wellness Day.
Teens often experience rapid and unpredictable changes in their mental health, with 75% of severe mental health disorders emerging during adolescence and young adulthood (Kessler et al. 2005).
Consistent, routine outcome measurement helps clinicians better understand those changes over time. Measurement-Based Care (MBC) empowers clinicians and clients to engage in more meaningful conversations about progress, tailor care to each individual based on real data, intervene earlier when trends indicate risk or stagnation, and create space for more collaborative, informed conversations with youth and families.
In this clip from our recent webinar, Theresa Lindberg, Managing Director for Child and Youth Services at CARF International, shared a powerful example of how a youth with anxiety, who struggled to verbalize their experience in sessions, was able to better express themselves through MBC, strengthening communication and understanding with their clinician.
