Stephanie Fournier Psychotherapy

Stephanie Fournier Psychotherapy I help individual adults who are experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem and self-criticism, discover inner peace, self-compassion, and confidence.

I offer virtual sessions and in-person sessions in two locations; Leslieville and Dundas West.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” by Anaïs Nin

Growth isn’t comfortable and vulnerability isn’t easy, but staying in old patterns can become its own kind of pain.

Anaïs Nin captures this beautifully (and has many other inspiring quotes on deep living).

If you’re feeling the tension between safety and expansion, it may be your system saying: *it’s time to blossom.*

As winter approaches, our energy naturally shifts. Shorter days, colder weather, and the holiday rush can make it harder to stay motivated and emotionally steady. It’s okay and appropriate to soften expectations this time of year. Reflection, warmth, and gentleness count as progress too.

Let’s choose compassion over pressure and presence over perfection. ❄️ 🕯️ 🩵

Our inner stories quietly shape how we move through the world.

They color our memories, soften or sharpen our beliefs, and tell us who we think we’re allowed to be.
In the therapy room, we slow down enough to listen—gently, curiously.

With compassion, we begin to loosen the old narratives, the ones written in survival rather than truth.

And in that softening, a new chapter becomes possible… one that feels more spacious, more honest, more yours.

A reminder that no matter how heavy life feels or how cold the world becomes, there is something enduring and warm inside of ourselves - something no one can take away. This quote represents hope, resilience, and the invisible light we carry when the outside world can feel dim.

Who knew therapists could serve looks too? 📸
We stepped out from behind the chair and into the spotlight for a fun shoot with .app — and it was a fun bonding time!
Our work can be deep and emotional, but it’s also real, connecting, and sometimes… surprisingly fun. Grateful for moments like these with a team like this. 💛🧠✨

Exciting news!! We are thrilled to be offering Work in Progress’s first ever virtual group therapy series. Do you or someone you know suffer from imposter syndrome? You know, that sneaky voice in our heads that tells us we’re not good enough or we’re going to get found out for being a fraud… well you are not alone! Through this five week group you will learn to disconnect from the voice that keeps telling you to discount your skills and talents and reconnect with the values and goals that help you feel professionally and personally fulfilled! Run by Rourke, RP (Qualifying) and practicum student and Rebecca RP and owner of Work in Progress. Every Tuesday evening in November at 7pm. To get your spot please email rourke@workinprogressto.ca. Space is limited. $100+HST for all five session. Sliding scale spots available to those who qualify.

Are you subject to the Sunday or Monday scaries? Consider digging into the *whys* and know that you’re not alone.

Planning regular moments of downtime throughout the work week can help; whether it’s scheduling time to connect with a pal, a block of time to do whatever you please, or allowing yourself little breaks throughout the day to move your body and reset.

Also, remind yourself of what is and is not in your control. Work towards managing what is in your control and this will help with the letting go of what isn’t. If you find you’re seeking a sense of certainty, process these emotions by writing them down. Try doing a ‘mental dump’ of what you’re thinking. Get it out on paper rather than let it swirl in your mind.

Book a therapy session with Stephanie Fournier Psychotherapy. In-person or virtual therapy available.

So many of us have experienced burnout. I’ve heard many people explain their experience being sick from COVID felt like a needed break from all of life’s demands.
Rather than wait for a vacation or illness to unplug…

What can you do that helps you feel more relaxed and how can you incorporate that into your regular life?

Who can you seek connection from?

What is a more compassionate thought and behaviour you can engage in to challenge your inner critic?

What do you value and how can your life be more aligned with those values?
