I see you..

You have been doing everything to lose weight. 🏋️‍♀️🏊‍♀️

You have tried all diets, you have struggled to eat less and exercise more 😫

You went to the gym every day before work for a whole month and you haven't lost a pound! 🏋️‍♀️

You feel like a failure and you are tired of family looking at you like it's your fault. The look they have at you every time you eat something that is not a salad 😳

I am here to tell you it's not your fault! I say it again IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!

Most diets out there do not take into consideration our unique needs. And as women we have very different needs than men.

Our hormones run the show. And if you have been depriving yourself by eating less and less everyday while exercising more and more chances are your hormones are out of whack, and there is nothing you can do until your hormones are working optimally again

Hormones tell us when to stop eating, when to keep eating, when to slow down and when to keep going, even how much of the calories you eat will be transformed into body fat

I don't know about you but I do love my breakfast. 🥰 There are so many options, smoothies, and muffins that you can take on the go. They are particularly good for a Monday morning when the last thing you want to think about is what to make for breakfast.

On the weekend a nice avocado egg toast with a nice black coffee makes me happy... or a nice waffle with almond butter and berries 😋

I know today is Monday and the race of the week starts ad it's easy to get out of the home and grab something on the way to work.
And yet there are the ones working from home that take in till the last possible minute they can to sleep and end up skipping breakfast altogether. I get ya and I have been there myself too. and Timmy to the rescue. Am I right? 😉

But I must confess I hate to feel rushed in the morning so for Mondays I like to have a quick breakfast so I usually make something the day before, like a smoothie and some muffins. You can even have a chocolate muffin. Yep, I said chocolate muffins for breakfast 😀 This recipe I am sharing is gluten-free and white sugar-free as well and they are filled with fiber and they are so fluffy. 🥰

Here you have it my Chocolate muffins recipe

2 cups Almond Flour
1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
1/4 tsp Sea Salt
1/4 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/4 cup Maple Syrup
3 Eggs
1 Zucchini (medium, grated, and drained of water)

Preheat your oven to 350ºF (177ºC) and line a muffin tin with muffin liners. Brush each liner with a small amount of coconut oil, to prevent sticking.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients - almond flour, cocoa powder, sea salt, and baking soda. Mix well.
In a medium-size bowl, whisk together wet ingredients - the olive oil, maple syrup, and eggs. Add the wet ingredients to the dry. Mix until combined then stir in the zucchini.
Spoon the muffin batter between cups, so it's evenly divided then bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
Let cool completely before eating, this will prevent the muffins from sticking to the liners.

Today is a very humid Summer afternoon and I really needed a refresher after a good walk outside. So I got a mix of things I had in my fridge. Grapefruit, cranberry juice, and frozen strawberries.

It's common for us to think of a cold beer or a cider to beat the heat but alcohol can actually dehydrate you.
1 cup strawberries (stems removed)her filled with Vitamin C.

Pink Refresher

What you will need:

3/4 cup Grapefruit Juice
1 cup Cranberry Juice
1 cup strawberries (stems removed)
2 cups Earl Grey Tea (brewed)
12 Ice Cubes

How to make it

Combine the grapefruit juice, cranberry juice, strawberries, and earl grey tea in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve it over ice. Divide between 4 glasses and enjoy!

Metabolic syndrome? What the heck does that mean?

Metabolic syndrome is a group of conditions that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. It means you have a greater risk of serious disease. And if you develop more of these conditions, your risk of complications, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease, rises even higher.

Metabolic syndrome is increasingly common, up to one-third of U.S. adults and one in five Canadians have it.

You are diagnosed with metabolic syndrome if you have three or more of the following:

A waistline of 35 inches or more for women (measured across the belly)
A blood pressure of 130/85 mm Hg or higher or are taking blood pressure medications.
A triglyceride level above 150 mg/dl.

Metabolic syndrome is closely linked to overweight or obesity and inactivity. It's also connected to insulin resistance. If you think you might have metabolic syndrome, talk to your doctors about having some tests done.

Metabolic syndrome can be reversed by managing blood sugar and through lifestyle changes.

Here are some of the steps you can take to prevent metabolic syndrome

A lifelong commitment to a healthy lifestyle may prevent the conditions that cause metabolic syndrome and even reverse it.

Getting at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days
Eating plenty of vegetables, fruits, lean protein and whole grains
Limiting saturated fat and salt in your diet
Maintaining a healthy weight
Not smoking

Bom dia!!!
