Acupuncture in bridging the gap of body, mind, and spirit.
🇨🇳 Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and acupuncture has been in practice for thousands of years. At its core, TCM views the human body-mind as a unified system.
🇨🇦 Today, acupuncture is widely accepted in the West for its use for pain management, physical symptoms, and functional diseases because it is easy to quantify its corresponding health measures and outcomes. (We may not know *exactly* how it works in a scientific and logical way, but it works).
💫 It is also important to acknowledge its power in psychological, emotional, and spiritual healing, the lesser known benefit, and less quantifiable.
🧘🏻♀️We have spoken about self-care and conscious healing consistently throughout our practice. So naturally, this includes the subconscious and spiritual self.
🌬For many, doing inner / shadow work is a challenging, yet rewarding journey. We can do the reflections and introspections. We can practice the self-soothing tools and somatic exercises. We can heal on a deeper level.
🧠 But one of my favourite ways of using acupuncture is using it to heal the unconscious part of the body; To work with the memories and messages that are hidden within our nervous system.
🧘🏻♀️This is why for many of our patients, especially those seeking nervous system regulation, we ask them to set an intention before our session. We also recommend repeating this intention like a mantra throughout the session, paired with some deep breathing into the areas they want to heal!
✨Have you used acupuncture as a support for your inner work? Your emotional and spiritual healing? If not, it’s definitely worth it! Book with us today - just follow the link in our BIO 💫

In case you missed it (& wondering why we haven’t been posting on this account as consistently) 🥺
👩🏻💼We have become the proud owner of Roncy’s Apothecary & Clinic!
🛠 Back in Sept 2023, we took over what used to be The Herbal Clinic & Dispensary in Roncesvalles. We’ve spent months preparing for the transition, and countless hours in rebranding and improving the space.
🤩 There is still so much to do, and we are excited to see what new projects and opportunities come up!
✨So if you haven’t done so already, give a follow 🙏🏼

There are no words that can describe how heavy our hearts feel with everything that is happening in Palestine.
We cannot fathom the grief and pain one goes through when such atrocities and trauma are happening to their home countries, their people, their families, and their loved ones.
& so, we want to offer what we can in support of those impacted by the ongoing events.
This November, we will be offering free or pay-what-you-can community acupuncture sessions for grief and nervous system support on select Tuesday & Thursday mornings.
You can check our availabilities & book online @ rcac.janeapp.com (ensure you choose Dr. Suki Hon -> Acupuncture: nervous system & grief support)*
* Please note, this is different from, and falls outside our regular community acupuncture shifts.

We stand with the people of Palestine - to be free from occupation, colonization, racism, violence, and genocide. You are not alone in this 🇵🇸

Hello fellow newcomers to naturopathic medicine 📣
👂🏼You’ve heard about naturopathic medicine in passing, or maybe someone you know has mentioned their friend who has a naturopathic doctor, you have a vague idea but you’re unsure what it actually is.
🌿Well, we’re going to introduce you to a whole new world (maybe not literally but close enough).
🩺 Naturopathic medicine is an alternative medicine with a holistic approach. It focuses on treating the root cause of a condition by combining both evidence-based and traditional medicine.
✨We recognize that everyone is different and we treat the person as a whole by considering the physiological, psychological, spiritual, sociocultural, and environmental aspects.
🛠 By using different naturopathic treatment tools (such as lifestyle & nutritional counselling, supplemental support, herbal medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture), naturopathy aims to support the body’s healing potential.
👩🏻⚕️ In our own practice, we see a lot of common conditions/symptoms such as:
◗ Chronic stress
◗ Adrenal fatigue
◗ Low energy & mood
◗ Anxiety
◗ Insomnia / sleep issues
◗ Gas & bloating
◗ Constipation
◗ Acid reflux
◗ Hormone imbalance
◗ Insulin resistance
◗ Pain
◗ Irregular periods
◗ PCOS
◗ & much more
. all of which, naturopathy can help with!
🤔 So if you’re curious to whether naturopathic medicine is the right move for you, book in for a free 15-min meet & greet (with no strings attached) 😉
🙋🏻♀️Thought we’d pop back in to say hi (in case you forgot about us). We know we’ve been super MIA for the past year but we promise it’s for a good reason!

2 weeks ago, we touched on the importance of wearing our other hats (not in the toxic hustle culture sense but as an identity as a friend, partner, cook, gardener, etc) 🎩
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👩🏻🎨 So recently, we put on our designer hat (not the bougie kind) and made some stickers for just for fun! (Swipe 👉🏼 to see the result 😬)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔔We thought it would be nice to share the content here as well.. because sometimes we just need these gentle reminders 😉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😻 This was one thing we did simply because we enjoyed it (note #4 on the list). What’s yours? 👇🏼

Our mind’s work hard to keep our bodies functioning. Its job is to interpret internal (ex. emotions) AND external (stressors) stimuli to decide on how we need to react to ensure our safety. Because of this crucial job, our mind needs to be vigilant and constantly look for cues that may pose danger to us.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤯 Unfortunately, a lot of aspects of our daily living acts as these stressors: stress, poor sleep, conflicts, traumatic events, anxiety, depression, difficulty managing emotions - you name it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📉 When this happens over a long period of time and are unmanaged, this leads to a DYSREGULATED nervous system which has a whole slew of downstream effects on our brain and body.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⛑ This is why it is so important to help regulate our nervous systems - we need to find SAFETY within ourselves so our bodies do not react as if there is ‘true’ danger (think Maslow’s hierarchy of needs - meeting our physiological and safety needs are crucial before anything else can be established).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧠 So what does this look like? Our favourite 3 revealed in the comments section below 👇🏼

DECISION FATIGUE
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do you find yourself getting more indecisive OR you’re making poorer decisions as the day goes by?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫 Don’t worry, you are definitely not alone in this.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🥱 EVERYONE experiences decision fatigue. We make about 35 THOUSAND decisions a day. That is a whole lot of decisions - so of course the quality of our decisions start to decline.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚖️ So how can we prevent this from happening? In short, you have to reduce the number of decisions you need to make! Of course, this is easier said than done so let’s take a look at a few tips:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
◗ Take stock of your current commitments & to-do list - are there any on there that doesn’t really need to be there?
◗ Stick to a list - whether this is for groceries, shopping, workouts etc, use a list so you’re not constantly trying to decide what to buy/do next
◗ Automate as much as possible - for your outfits, meals, or routine, create a set rule you can stick with so it just becomes automatic (Ex. Outfit #1 every Monday, tacos for Tuesday dinner, walks @ 5PM daily, automating your instagram posts using a scheduling app .. etc)
◗ Reserve important decisions first thing in the morning - this is when the quality of your decision is highest!
◗ Practice saying no - this way, you’re not continually adding things to your commitments and to-do’s
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👩🏻⚕️When it comes to your health, it also helps to have someone to guide you on your goals! Let them do the research and create a routine and treatment for you so you don’t have to do it 😉.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔋How do you preserve your decision making battery?👇🏼

Providing health care with compassion, honesty, and intent
I believe that everyone deserves a chance to become a healthier and better version of themselves. I am passionate about affordable and sustainable health care. I want to empower individuals to take control of their own wellness. With botanical medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, along with nutrition and lifestyle counselling, I aim to support and restore balance in the body.
Why affordable & accessible healthcare in naturopathic medicine?
I am a first-generation Chinese-born Canadian born in Toronto, Ontario. My parents immigrated to Toronto about 30 years ago to be together and have been living here ever since. They decided to stay as close to Chinatown as possible to feel connected to their heritage and to maintain a sense of community. They didn’t speak the language (and still not fluent after 30 years), had little support, and no financial stability. Yet, they were able to build a brand new life here in Canada. My parents worked tirelessly to make sure my sister and I are provided for. I witnessed my parents’ health being affected by the effort that is required to support our family. Obstacles to health and wellness became more and more evident as I got older and it saddens me to know that such inequality exists.
By providing affordable healthcare in naturopathic medicine means I can make it a bit more accessible for those who may not be able to afford it otherwise. By using one of our principles - Doctor as Teacher - I can empower patients to take control of their own health and that pills are not the only way. I don't ever want finances to be the reason why someone can't become a healthier version of themselves if they have the motivation to make that change.
Of course, accessibility means so much more than just affordability. Other potential barriers to health should be considered as well. I believe in an anti-oppressive framework and want to provide a safe space for everyone who wants to work with me (BIPOC LGBTQ2S+ non conformity ally, s*x positive, culturally sensitive). Other things including telemedicine (online consults), and sustainable recommendations (financially, physically, mentally) are also offered. I want you to have a positive journey towards wellness.
So let’s make healthcare a bit more accessible; because everyone deserves a chance at health.
Credentials
I am a board certified and licensed naturopathic doctor in Ontario. I obtained my Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). I am also a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), and the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND).
During my studies at CCNM, I gained clinical experience at Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic and Lakeshore Area Multiproject Naturopathic Clinic. I worked alongside Naturopaths without Borders in Haiti to provide accessible health care in local communities, and did a month long externship at Zhongfang Red Cross International Hospital in Hunan, China to advance my understanding in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. I am also certified in Facial Rejuvenation and Cosmetic Acupuncture.
