Why We Obsessively Google Symptoms

Ever caught yourself Googling symptoms at 2 AM? You’re not alone. That urge isn’t just curiosity; it’s your brain’s way of seeking control and reassurance.

The problem? The more you search, the more anxious you feel. Learn why this happens (and what to do instead) in our latest blog by Janki Shah.

Trauma doesn’t just affect how you feel—it physically changes your brain.

Swipe to understand how three key brain areas are impacted and why healing trauma requires more than just “getting over it”
In this carousel:

✓ The amygdala (your alarm system stuck on high alert)
✓ The hippocampus (why memories feel jumbled)
✓ The prefrontal cortex (when logic can’t override fear)
✓ Why trauma feels so inescapable
✓ How therapy helps rewire these pathways

You’ve probably said “I’m so stressed” and “I’m so anxious” in the same breath — but they’re actually not the same thing, and knowing the difference matters more than you think.

Worry is that mental spiral of “what if” thoughts. It lives in your head and it’s future-focused.

Stress is your body’s alarm system firing — the tight chest, the racing heart, the fight-or-flight response you didn’t ask for.

Anxiety is where the two collide. It’s emotional, persistent, and rooted deeper — in the part of your brain that doesn’t respond to logic.

When you can name what you’re actually experiencing, you stop fighting the wrong battle. Telling yourself to “calm down” when your nervous system is dysregulated doesn’t work. But understanding what’s happening in your body and mind? That’s where real coping begins. 🧠

Save this for the next time you can’t figure out why you feel the way you feel.

Phobias are not about being irrational or weak.

They are learned fear responses where the nervous system stays locked in protection mode, even when the danger is long gone.

Your body is reacting as if the threat is still happening, because at some point, that response kept you safe.

Therapy is not about forcing fear away.

It is about helping your nervous system relearn safety, slowly and consistently, so your life can feel bigger again.

If fear has been running the show, support can help you take that space back.

Save this. Share it with someone who needs it. Reach out when you are ready.

Childhood trauma often shows up quietly in adulthood as overreacting, people pleasing, shutting down, or feeling unsafe in closeness, not because something is wrong with you but because your nervous system learned early how to survive.
If this resonates, save this post and reach out to start untangling old patterns that no longer need to run your relationships.

Trauma and fertility struggles can live in the body at the same time, shaping fear, grief, and self trust, and therapy helps gently process both reproductive challenges and past traumatic experiences so healing does not have to happen in pieces, so save this post and book a consult when you are ready for support.

Health anxiety is not about being dramatic or weak; it is your nervous system stuck in a loop of scanning, Googling, reassurance seeking, and still never feeling settled, because fear convinces your body that certainty equals safety even when none exists.
In therapy, the work is not proving you are fine but helping your body relearn that uncertainty is survivable and that you do not need to monitor yourself to stay alive.
If this sounds familiar, save this post or reach out to talk about how to step out of the loop instead of fighting it alone.

Narcissistic abuse is rarely loud or obvious; it often looks like confusion, self doubt, walking on eggshells, and slowly losing trust in your own reality.
Clients often tell me the hardest part is not what happened, but how long it took to realize something was wrong.
If this resonates, notice what feels familiar in your body right now and remind yourself that clarity is a form of healing, not betrayal.

If you want support in untangling these patterns, reach out or save this post for when doubt creeps back in.
