During Mental Health Awareness Month, we reflect on what mental health is and what we can do to promote positive mental health.

Mental health encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Our mental health influences how we think, feel, and act. It also influences how we relate to others, make choices, and cope with stress.

Tips that can help to maintain positive mental health include:
• Get enough sleep and rest
• Eat a healthy, balanced diet
• Stay active
• Connect with others
• Engage in hobbies
• Connect with nature
• Check in with yourself
• Ask for help

What helps YOU? Share with us in the comment section below what you do to take care of your mental health!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This month is recognized to increase awareness about the vital role mental health plays in overall health and well-being.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a great time to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in children and adolescents. Mental Health Awareness Month creates a time and space for caregivers, friends, and loved ones to start a conversation.

Talking openly about mental health creates an environment where children and adolescents feel comfortable acknowledging and expressing their feelings and emotions. Talking openly about mental health can also reduce stigma and encourage children and adolescents to seek support when needed.

Today marks one year since our lives as we knew them halted. For children, 1 year feels like a lifetime! Read this article written by Dr. Nancy Rappaport for some amazing ways to help kids (and parents) remember that “sadness isn’t forever” ❤️

It's our jobs, as parents and educators, to help kids make sense of what they’re enduring and what comes next, writes Nancy Rappaport. That's difficult, because we’re still figuring it out, too.
