Your Yoga Journey Yoga flows for strengthening, stretching, flexibility, focus, stress relief... I came to practice yoga for stress relief and fitness.

My love for yoga evolved as I started to realize the positive impact on my physical and mental wellbeing. At first, classes were challenging and I could barely flow from one pose to the next. But I was hooked, hooked on the feeling I experienced after each class. As the years went by, I decided to share my passion with others and attended Yoga Teacher Training. I am now a certified Yoga Instructor! The classes I deliver are centred around honouring our bodies, finding our own connection, and working at a level that is comfortable for our own mind and body. After all, yoga is about the journey and not the destination.

Your Yoga practice

Practice in a well ventilated, calm and quiet area. If practicing outdoors the surroundings should be pleasant and free from wind, cold, smoky or smelly air

Wear comfortable clothing

Empty the bladder and bowels

Practice on an empty stomach

Never practice after a long period of sunbathing, the body is already overheated

Never go over the edge ! !
if you feel any pinching, pulling or pain slowly remove yourself from the pose and rest in Downward Facing Dog or Child’s Pose

The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit root word of ‘yuj’, meaning to unite, to yoke or to bind.

Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years, most say earlier than 1,500 BCE, and its origins can be traced back to the Northern Indian region.

There are many interpretations of yoga because it’s so old and so much of it was oral teachings from one generation to another.

Tirumalai Krishnamacharya is widely known as one of the ‘Fathers of Modern Yoga’. He was an Indian teacher, ayurvedic healer, and scholar. His influence is seen today in the Asana practice, which is the physical practice of yoga and another name for poses or postures.

Krishnamacharya’s students were:

Jois - Founder of Ashtanga Yoga
Iyengar - Founder of Iyengar Yoga
Devi - The First Lady of Yoga
His son, T.K.V Desikachar - developed Viniyoga
