As we wrap up Therapeutic Recreation Month, we want to give a HUGE shoutout to our incredible Recreation Team 💙

Therapeutic Recreation is so much more than activities — it’s about enhancing quality of life, supporting all 5 domains of well-being, encouraging physical movement, fostering social connection, and creating moments of joy every single day.

Our recreation staff bring creativity, compassion, and energy into our home through meaningful programs, one-to-one visits, music, games, fitness classes, sensory experiences, community partnerships, and celebrations that make every resident feel seen and valued. 🎶🎨🎉

They spark memories.
They build friendships.
They promote independence.
They lift spirits.

Thank you for the laughter, the dedication, and the heart you pour into everything you do. We are so grateful for the difference you make in the lives of our residents all year long. 🌟

Today we proudly wore pink in support of Pink Shirt Day 💗

At our long-term care home, we stand together against bullying and stand up for kindness, inclusion, and respect. Residents, staff, and visitors all took part — showing that no matter our age, we can all make a difference.

Every act of kindness matters. Every voice counts. Together, we create a community where everyone feels safe, valued, and supported.

This month, we are proud to celebrate Black History Month by honouring the achievements, culture, and contributions of over 70 iconic Black individuals through interactive scavenger hunts, educational displays, Black History Month bingo, special celebration events through recreation and quality of work life, entertainment, and more.

Black History Month is an important opportunity to learn, reflect, and recognize the lasting impact of Black leaders, artists, activists, innovators, and changemakers throughout history.

At our home, we are committed to building a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and included. By celebrating diversity and creating meaningful learning experiences, we continue working toward a home that recognizes and embraces the unique stories and backgrounds of all who live and work here! ❤️

One year stronger 💪✨
Today we’re celebrating 1 year of our Nursing Rehab Program — and what an incredible year it has been!

We are so proud to have such a dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled team leading this program. Their commitment, encouragement, and expertise help ensure our residents remain as strong, confident, and independent as possible every single day.

From small victories to major milestones, we’ve seen determination, resilience, and teamwork in action. Thank you to our amazing staff for empowering residents to reach their goals and live life to the fullest.
Here’s to continued strength, progress, and partnership in the year ahead!

Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us ❤️

We’ve been celebrating all week long, and our home has been filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of heart! Every resident received a rose, we danced the afternoons away, sang along to our favourite love songs, and even had a special visit from a GIANT heart that made everyone smile!

Moments like these remind us that love lives here every single day — in friendships, in music, in shared laughs, and in the little things that mean so much. 💕

Happy National Therapeutic Recreation Month! 💙

This month, we are proud to celebrate the incredible impact of Therapeutic Recreation and the dedicated Recreation Team who bring joy, purpose, and connection into our home every single day. Through meaningful programs and person-centered care, they support residents across the 5 domains of well-being — social, physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual — helping each individual live life to the fullest.

In honour of TR Month, special activities are taking place throughout the home to recognize and celebrate our amazing recreation team. 🎉

This morning, our cognitive group kicked off the celebrations with a Jeopardy game all about Recreational Therapy and the 5 domains of well-being. It was filled with learning, laughing, and strengthening minds together.

Thank you to our Recreation Team for the heart, creativity, and dedication you bring to our residents every day💛

This Black History Month, we come together to honour, reflect, and celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black communities. This includes the past, the present, and the future.

We were proud to kick off the month with an incredible Black History Month concert by Jay Franco, a performance jam-packed with iconic songs by Black artists that filled our home with music, joy, and meaningful connection 🎶🖤

Cultural celebrations like this remind us how important it is to recognize diverse stories, honour lived experiences, and create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and celebrated. We are grateful for moments that bring our residents, families, and staff together through music, history, and shared appreciation.

Yesterday we proudly hosted a BPSO Champion Appreciation Day to celebrate our 100+ staff who have become BPSO Champions —and the energy said it all! 🧡
With great food, music, a photo booth, and lots of smiles, we took time to celebrate how far we’ve come and get excited for what’s next.

Our BPSO Champions lead the way in following Best Practice Guidelines for palliative care, pain, and people-centred care, making a real difference every day for residents, families, and each other.
You can spot our champions around the home by their white polo shirts with the BPSO logo—wearing their commitment with pride.

💡A fun fact, Humber Meadows is the very first home to open with a BPSO pre-designation as well as implement the RNAO Clinical Pathways!

A heartfelt thank you to the RNAO for stopping by to tour the home, connect with our champions, and join in the celebration. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made and energized as we work toward transitioning from a pre-designate to a designate organization this spring.

✨Here’s to teamwork, best practices, and continuing to raise the bar—together ✨

Yesterday, our staff, residents, and families were delighted to welcome the Honourable .kusendova, Minister of Long-Term Care, to Humber Meadows!

Our team shared our journey as the first long-term care home to open as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) through the of Ontario including how we integrate Clinical Pathways into daily care. It was a meaningful opportunity to highlight our work, advocate for the strengths of these programs, and walk through a mock clinical pathway together.

Following a brief tour of our home, the visit wrapped up with a fun and engaging meet-and-greet in the Great Hall, where staff, residents, and families enjoyed connecting and sharing stories.

Thank you for coming to visit our home, we look forward to welcoming you back again soon!
