💬 Let’s talk about the misconceptions around child therapy.
We know that deciding to bring your child to therapy can bring up a lot of feelings — uncertainty, guilt, even fear of judgment. You’re not alone in that.
At Work in Progress, our child therapists hear murmurings like “It’s just play,” or “What if it means I’ve failed as a parent?” But therapy isn’t about labeling problems — it’s about giving children a safe, supportive space to express themselves and helping families connect and communicate in new ways.
Play therapy helps children make sense of big feelings, build coping tools, and strengthen emotional regulation — all through the language they know best: play.
Parents are an important part of this process too. You’ll be involved, supported, and guided throughout your child’s therapy journey.
✨ Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, anger, grief, social challenges, or just needs help navigating change, early support can make all the difference.
If you’ve been wondering whether therapy might help your child — this is your sign to reach out.
These reflections were written by one of our child therapists, Jessica Blakeley, who brings warmth, creativity, and deep care to her work. We have child therapy spots available (both in-person and virtual).
