Unpopular opinion: Most “gut health habits” you see online aren’t actually helping.

Because when gut health becomes about control - cutting more foods, layering random supplements, chasing “perfect” digestion, and pathologizing every sensation - you lose the context that actually drives long-term gut health.

We take a different approach:
✨ Curiosity over control
Instead of asking “what should I cut next?” we ask what is my body responding to, and why?

✨ Compassion over perfection
A sensitive gut doesn’t mean a broken gut.
Symptoms are info (not a failure) and progress doesn’t require doing everything “right.”

We’re breaking down 3 common gut health traps (and what to do instead).

There’s no such thing as a “perfect” period.
But debilitating pain, exhaustion, and losing days every month isn’t something you’re meant to just push through.

Some discomfort is expected (hormonal shifts, normal inflammation, the work your body is doing). What’s not normal is when cramps take over your life.

We look at period pain through a wider, systems-based lens that considers how your body actually functions across the cycle.

When we support period health, we start with fundamentals:
💕Adequate energy and nutrient intake (healing can’t happen without a baseline)
💕Mineral balance to support nerve and muscle function
💕Anti-inflammatory fats and evidence-informed supplements
💕Antioxidants for tissue repair
💕Simple, sustainable meals that fit real life

When these pieces come together, we consistently see the same pattern: less pelvic pain, steadier energy, and cycles that stop running the show.

No extremes. No “perfect” diets. Just thoughtful, physiology-informed care that works with your body!

This is the approach behind our Free Hormone + Gut Health Toolkit: practical, evidence-based strategies you can start using right away, without overwhelm.

Comment or DM us “period” to get the toolkit. Start feeling better in your body. 💕

Ever feel like your period just takes over your week? Cramping, fatigue, bloating… no matter what you eat or how “healthy” you try to be, it still knocks you down.

You’re not overreacting. Your body is literally doing a lot: uterine muscles contracting, hormones shifting, inflammation rising. It’s working hard, and it deserves support, not more restriction or frustration.

Here’s what actually helps you feel a little more in charge:

1️⃣ Muscle & nerve support: nutrients that ease contractions and reduce cramp intensity
2️⃣ Anti-inflammatory fats: calm the chemical messengers that naturally drive pain
3️⃣ Herbal uterine support: soothe and promote circulation
4️⃣ Antioxidants: help repair tissue and reduce cellular stress

This isn’t about overhauling your life or following the latest “period hacks.” It’s about giving your body what it actually needs so you can move through your cycle with less pain and more energy.

You’ve tried cutting carbs for the tenth time. The meal plans. The keto recipes. But nothing feels sustainable. You’re tired, bloated and are nonstop craving sweets.

The thing is, carbs and PCOS aren’t one-size-fits-all. What “works” for some else might leave you feeling awful.

Focus on these instead for steady energy and happy hormones:

1️⃣ Quality over quantity – think fibre-rich, slow-digesting carbs like oats, beans, lentils, starchy veggies and fruits. Steady blood sugar, fewer cravings and lasting energy.

2️⃣ Timing matters - Spread carbs across the day. A well-timed breakfast + lunch + dinner (+snacks when needed) = fewer crashes.

3️⃣ Listen to your body - Everyone’s carb tolerance is different. Some thrive on more, others on less. Find your personal sweet spot for sustainable energy and symptom control.

You don’t need to overhaul your life to feel better. Small, evidence-based tweaks > strict diets. Always. Boost energy, support digestion and hormones without the burnout.

🚨 I realized we’ve been treating PCOS all wrong. And women are paying the price.

For years, the convo was only about weight + fertility. But anyone living with PCOS knows the issues run way deeper.

You didn’t need research to tell you this…you’ve LIVED the shame, the confusion, the dismissal. But here’s the validating part with real data:

✨ People with PCOS may be 3-6× more likely to struggle with disordered eating (yet still get told “just lose weight)
✨ Food insecurity may be twice as common, making “just eat better” advice unrealistic
✨ And >50% of people with PCOS leave appointments without fully understanding their diagnosis.

So no, the problem was never you.
The problem is how the system has (not) been caring for you.

At The Good Life Dietitian, we’re rewriting the story:
🩵 Care that actually sees you
🩵 Care that understands your lived reality
🩵 Care that treats you like a whole human, not a checklist

✨ The future of PCOS care should feel inclusive, accessible, and built around your life, not the system’s assumptions.

If you’ve ever felt unseen in healthcare… this is your place!

But what if you approached the holidays differently this year? Relaxed. Realistic. Non-perfectionist. Mindful. Supportive of yourself.

Swipe through for tips on how to feel more stable and at peace with your gut health. Simple tips. Quiet but powerful impact.

And if you want to build your gut resilience over the holidays and transition this into a strong and peaceful start of the new year, work in our 1-on-1 dietitian programs to get started ❤️ hit the link in bio (we’re benefits-covered!)

Meal planning for PCOS doesn’t have to feel like a full-time job. It just needs a little bit of thoughtfulness. 💭

If you’re running into those energy crashes, unpredictable cycles, intense cravings, or that wired-but-tired feeling, there’s a good chance your blood sugar, insulin response, and inflammation are at a high.

These are big players when it comes to flaring PCOS symptoms, but the way you eat can help bring things back into balance (without perfection or restriction), and get you back to feeling like yourself again.

Swipe for some real-life ways to make meal planning actually doable with PCOS in mind- like:

✔ Building balanced meals that keep your blood sugar steady and energy up
✔ Planning ahead to skip the all-or-nothing cycle
✔ Nourishing your body consistently (not perfectly!)

A few small tweaks can make a huge difference in how you feel, calmer hormones, steadier energy, and a little more “I’ve got this” energy in your week. 💪

✨ Save this for your next grocery run or Sunday prep

✨ Grab the free Hormone + Gut Health Toolkit in our bio for more practical, evidence-based support

Happy planning 😘
