👷‍♂️ Do you know your rights at work?

Every worker deserves to feel safe on the job and return home safely at the end of the day. Understanding your workplace safety rights can help prevent injuries and protect you and your coworkers.

In Canada, workers have three fundamental safety rights:
🔹 The Right to Know about workplace hazards
🔹 The Right to Participate in improving safety
🔹 The Right to Refuse Unsafe Work

Knowing these rights empowers you to recognize hazards, speak up about unsafe conditions, and help create a safer workplace for everyone. Safety starts with awareness.

At 16, Dean Turner left school to begin a welding apprenticeship.

Life didn’t go as planned. There were periods of unemployment and even homelessness.

Then came a second chance — joining the Canadian Armed Forces. That opportunity helped him complete his education, develop leadership skills, and ultimately build F.A.S.T. Rescue, a company dedicated to Occupational Health & Safety training.

That second chance changed everything.

But not everyone gets that opportunity. Often, the difference between struggle and success is simply access — access to education, mentorship, and support.

That’s why F.A.S.T. Rescue is proud to launch the F.A.S.T. Rescue Award in Occupational Health & Safety, established in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University. 🎓

This award will support students facing systemic or financial barriers to post-secondary education and careers in health and safety — helping build stronger leaders, safer workplaces, and a more inclusive future for our industry.

To support this initiative, we are hosting our First Annual FORWARD Gala on Thursday, April 2, 2026. ✨

⚠️ Risk assessments are one of the most important parts of a strong workplace safety program.

But many workplaces complete them once for compliance and never review them again.

A workplace risk assessment helps identify hazards, evaluate risks, and decide what controls are needed to prevent injuries.

📌 Learn why risk assessments matter, when they should be reviewed, and signs that yours may need updating.
