Protecting the public is a shared responsibility.
Government, CPBAO, educators, and psychologists all play a role in building a safe, sustainable mental health system.

Lowering standards without full consultation risks creating gaps that no one group can fix alone.
We’re calling for a coordinated approach, one that brings all partners to the table to design clear, responsible, and evidence-informed pathways for future practitioners.

Your feedback helps make that collaboration possible.
Say NO to the proposed changes, and YES to shared accountability and joint planning.

Increasing access to care is essential, but it should never come at the expense of public safety. Strong standards and safe pathways can coexist, and they must.

OPA has done significant work to help with wait times and access to psychological services. During the pandemic, when needs were at an all time high, our front-line workers program was able to match patients with a psychologist or PA on average in 19 days. 16% of workers were matched within a couple of days and an additional 23% within one week. 61% of the workers were seen within two weeks.

Across all metrics, the longest waits were overwhelmingly tied to patient-specific factors (e.g., unresponsiveness, preference for certain attributes, delayed readiness), not system performance. This demonstrates that OPA has been and continues to be committed to helping with access to service, and that this can be done without lowering standards.

We urge the CPBAO to rethink these reforms and work collaboratively with the profession on meaningful solutions.

Vote NO to the changes and call for thoughtful reform.

We are calling on the CPBAO to pause and meaningfully consult with the profession to ensure changes truly benefit the public.
