Lead levels in protein powder? Here’s what dietitians need to know.

Consumer Reports flagged several plant-based powders for exceeding California’s strict lead limit (0.5 µg/day).
But here’s the nuance: those same products did not exceed safety thresholds set by Health Canada, the FDA, or Australian regulators.

As a dietitian, here’s how you can support with clarity:
✔ Reassure most people that daily use hasn’t been identified as a health concern
✔ Recommend limiting daily use for vulnerable groups (children, pregnant clients)
✔ Suggest switching to dairy-based powders or brands with third-party testing
✔ Encourage clients with concerns to speak with their physician

Are infant formulas really contaminated with toxic chemicals? 🍼
A recent U.S. report is raising alarms—and headlines—but the real story is more nuanced. For leaders in health, nutrition, and policy, it’s not just about what’s happening in one country. It’s about understanding the global context and guiding parents with clarity, not fear.

We’re breaking it down:
🔍 What’s happening in the U.S.
📊 What the research found
🌎 How Canada and Australia compare
✅ What it means for dietitians and health leaders in practice
✨ Hint: U.S. data sparked concern but Canadian and Australian testing paints a very different picture.
