UofT International Health Program - UTIHP Student Organization UTIHP Student Organization creates initiatives to engage the student body & the community beyond in

Founded in 1988 by a group of medical students in response to an increasing global health interest on campus, UTIHP has grown over the years to become the largest interdisciplinary student group in the country, with members from faculties across campus. We operate entirely independent of any large organizations, non-governmental or otherwise, and are entirely student driven. Almost everything we've done has been created from the ground up. We truly believe in an interdisciplinary, collaborative, and outside-of-the-box approach to solving today's global problems. Our structure and fluidity means that our members are open to a world of possibilities for creating positive and lasting changes in our local and global communities. We organize our initiatives around 8 different committees that provide students opportunities to engage, connect and contribute to the field of Global Health. To learn more bout our committees, visit our website: www.utihp.ca & the individual committee FB pages found in our 'likes' section!

When thinking of mental health issues, we are often preoccupied with similar mental struggles within our community. But, we must also remember and account unresolved mental stigma due to different circumstances of individuals. Hence, mental health stigma continue to arise, especially in developing countries.

Antibiotic resistance has been rising over the past years mainly due to misuse of medications. Over the course of COVID-19 pandemic, antimicrobial disinfectants are extensively used and many people are misinformed about medications. Overuse of antibiotics induces bacterial mutations and evolution. Being unvaccinated also poses higher risk of microbial infection and spread. It is vital to only take antibiotics when needed and be aware of its bacterial resistance, which can be a hidden pandemic we are facing today.
