We had the honour of hosting and celebrating George Shield’s 100th birthday at our annual holiday luncheon!

George reached this incredible milestone on December 2nd, 2025. As a cherished member of our board, the founder of The Speech and Stuttering Institute, and a steadfast supporter for decades, his impact runs deep. He and the Barbershoppers have championed SSI for over 40 years, and we were thrilled to celebrate this remarkable moment with him.

Virtual School-Age Intensive Fluency Plus Program (10 – 15 yrs)
June 29 – July 17 2026 Mondays through Fridays, 10:00am – 12:00pm + 9 follow up sessions throughout the year.

Fluency Plus is grounded in a stutter-affirming therapy approach, supporting school-aged children and adolescents by addressing both speech production and the cognitive and emotional aspects of stuttering.
This highly interactive workshop led by Marni Kinder is designed to help clinicians develop practical, transferable skills they can confidently apply in therapy.

This year, The Speech and Stuttering Institute Team committed to donating to a local food bank​.

It was such a pleasure to drop off the food and money the SSI staff raised this year to support The Community Share Food Bank located just around the corner from us at 33 Overland Drive.

When our Executive Director Kevin Kozak arrived, he was greeted by Natalie Russell, who is the Chair on their Board of Directors.

She was very welcoming and appreciative of our donation, and mentioned our support would go to help the 246 families that they were feeding that day. The church was very busy with both volunteers and people coming in to pick up their food packages.

We are so thankful to our SSI team for deciding to help in this manner this holiday season!
