Susan Reed Therapy Susan Reed Therapy is a full-time, fully licenced practice providing CBT and supportive counselling to children, teens, adults, families and couples.

Susan Reed has her Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and is a clinical member of the The Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists. She works in full-time private practice, providing cognitive-behavioural therapy to individuals and couples. Susan is a Diplomate in both Psychotherapy and Counseling with the International Academy of Behavioral Medicine, Counseling and Psychotherapy as well as being a fully registered Psychotherapist with the collage of Psychotherapists of Ontario. If you have extended health care benefits for a registered Psychologist your fees will be covered to see Susan Reed. Susan also has extensive experience working with Employee Assistance Programs and in Rehabilitation. Her areas of interest include anxiety, depression, relationship and sexual issues, pain management, and parenting concerns. Susan's professional style is warm, supportive, and engaging. Her commitment to her clients is to remain current and offer the most effective strategies and interventions possible. As such, Susan can often be found taking courses and involved in professional development activities.

Cognitive dissonance in abuse is the mental discomfort caused by holding two conflicting beliefs, such as "my partner loves me" and "my partner is abusive". This internal conflict leads to psychological tension, which survivors often manage by rationalizing the abuser's behavior, denying the abuse, or self-blaming to reduce the discomfort. This mental state can keep individuals stuck in abusive situations by creating a false narrative that justifies the abuser's actions.
