Sardines are trending on social media due to their skin health benefits.

But they do so much more than that.

Sardines are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids particularly EPA and DHA.

EPA and DHA are important for brain health, mood, inflammation and skin health.

These healthy fats are difficult to obtain in the diet. Some of the best sources of EPA and DHA are fatty fish. You can remember it by the acronym SMASH (sardines, mackerel, anchovies, salmon and herring).

To make this lunch I used:

- 1 can of sardines
- 2 tbsp Greek yogurt
- 1 chopped dill pickle
- 1 chopped pickled pepper
- chopped green onions
-chopped baby spinach
- salt and pepper to taste.

I used gluten-free bread but you can use whatever you have.

Cucumber and carrots make a nice side as they are also excellent for the skin.

1️⃣ Add Moisture to the Air 🌀 Dry air = dry skin! Add moisture to the air with a humidifier, and through simple things like showering with the door open, air-drying clothes, or even leaving bowls of water out.

2️⃣ Supplement with Vitamin D ☀️ Vitamin D, or “the sunshine vitamin,” is crucial for healthy skin. Vitamin D has been shown to help skin cells grow and repair, improving skin’s protection while slowing aging.

If you’re starting at new fitness routine in January here’s somethings to remember:

✨If you’re working out first thing in the morning, your workout is being fuelled by what you ate the night before.

✨ If you’re doing a cardiovascular exercise then focus on hydration in the morning. Make sure you are going into your workout well hydrated with water, electrolytes or coconut water.

🏃 🚴‍♀️ 🏊‍♀️

✨ If you’re doing weightlifting and you don’t have time to eat beforehand then an essential amino acid supplement can help with muscle repair. An EAA supplement can be added to your water bottle to consume before or during your exercise. Then make sure to have a protein rich meal afterwards.
