Struggling with poor sleep or insomnia? π€
A recent clinical trial from the Nature and Science of Sleep Journal found that after four weeks, individuals taking magnesium bisglycinate showed a significantly greater reduction in insomnia symptoms and better sleep quality compared to those on placebo. π΄
Insomnia symptoms were measured using the Insomnia Severity Index, as well as quantifying sleep quality, fatigue, mood, stress, and daytime sleepiness scores. The supplemented group received 250 mg of elemental magnesium and approx. 1.5 g of glycine per day for 28 days. Researchers found ISI scores improved by 3.9 points on average, compared to 2.3 in the placebo group.
π Magnesium glycinate is a highly bioavailable form of magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine, making it easier for the body to absorb and more gentle on the stomach compared to other forms of magnesium. Magnesium glycinate is particularly useful for relaxation, sleep quality, and muscle cramps.
