This week, we're sharing a new blog post from the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada/Association Canadienne de Yoga Iyengar: “A Logo that Balances Structure & Sensitivity”, by Espace Créé/Yoga Iyengar's Carla Ramirez, .tataryn, and Stephanie Tencer, the current leads of IYAC/ACYI’s Education Roundtable.

In the piece, they share how in Iyengar Yoga therapy, we hold space for both the clarity of structure and the openness of sensitivity—and how this interplay offers a framework for understanding the therapeutic dimension of practice.

It’s also a preview of what lies ahead at IYAC/ACYI's 2026 Forum in Toronto: Practice as Therapy (April 24-27). We'll be gathering to explore how personal practice, a therapeutic lens, and the lived experience all intertwine.

“The aim of this year’s event is to collectively explore the relationship between asana practice and therapeutic applications – how each informs the other, and how therapeutic principles can be a springboard for creative, insightful, and powerful explorations on the mat, for all practitioners.”

It is going to be a very special event!

Mark your calendars, registration opens on:

Saturday November 15th at 2 PM ET
(Find your timezone: 11 AM PT, 12 PM MT, 1 PM CT, 3 PM AT)

Backbends can be invigorating but also… challenging!

This week’s sequence was designed to help you build confidence in a smooth, supportive back arch.

By exploring asanas such as Salabhasana and Dhanurasana, this 20-minute practice can strengthen your back, core, arms, and legs.

Learn to create space in the torso and build clarity in your practice!

So many new kinds of “yoga” keep appearing — from paddleboards to goats to g***a.

It makes me wonder… at what point does yoga stop being yoga?

In my latest Substack, I explore what really defines the practice — not as a workout or a trend, but as the thread that connects body, mind, and spirit.

In anticipation of her new Back Care Basics class, Steph dove into her past this week with a vulnerable new essay on Substack. “I really wanted people to understand that even if progress is slow, it is still very much PO-ssible.”

Back Care Basics is a weekly 1 hour class designed to foster sustainable yoga habits that support your spine, improve mobility, and enhance your overall practice. Commences Thurs. Nov. 13th, 11 AM.

Iyengar Yoga looks structured from the outside. But is it? Stephanie Tencer's new Substack essay explores how that very structure leads to freedom — and teaches us to choose for ourselves.

Awareness. Alignment. Autonomy.
