We’re proud to share that Saint Elizabeth Foundation & Journey Home Hospice's Executive Director Fr. Dr. Matthew Durham has been featured in the University of Toronto - University of St. Michael's College Alumni Magazine, highlighting the launch of our National Centre for Equity and Innovation in End-of-Life Care.

This feature helps shine a light on the importance of compassionate, equitable care for people and families facing serious illness and end-of-life journeys. It also reflects the dedication of our teams, partners, and supporters who believe everyone deserves dignity, respect, and support at every stage of life.

🎶 Music Monday: supporting wellness through music 🎶

Music is an important part of wellness at Journey Home Hospice | Saint Elizabeth Foundation. A music therapist and volunteers shared a small concert with patients, offering moments of calm, comfort, and connection.

Music has a unique way of soothing, connecting, and creating joy especially when shared in community.

We’re pleased to share that our Executive Director, Fr. Dr. Matthew Durham, had the opportunity to present at the Annual General Meeting of the Palliative Care Coalition of Canada and highlight the work of the Saint Elizabeth Foundation’s National Centre for Equity and Innovation in End of Life Care.

The Palliative Care Coalition of Canada is a national coalition of more than 30 organizations, including SE Health, working together to advance quality palliative care for everyone in Canada. Through advocacy, collaboration, and collective leadership, the coalition champions a well funded and sustainable national strategy to strengthen care across serious illness and end of life.

We are grateful for the opportunity to engage with leaders from across the country, learn from shared experiences, and continue building partnerships that support compassionate and equitable care for patients, families, and caregivers.

Last week, in Saint Elizabeth Foundation's Holiday Hope & Happiness campaign, members of our team from the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant service delivery centre (SDC) came together alongside their Staff Association members to collect donations and assemble care packages for individuals and families in need.

With the generosity of everyone at the SDC, they were able to support Haldimand & Norfolk Women’s Services, HOPE Centre Welland, the CHCH Toy Drive, Niagara Falls Soup Kitchen, and members of the Downtown Hamilton Encampments.

They were also able to personally deliver these care packages, along with Saint Elizabeth Foundation | SE Health fleece blankets, and spend time connecting with members of the Downtown Hamilton community. Witnessing the gratitude and warmth firsthand was a powerful reminder of the impact that small acts of care can have.

Yesterday, our Foundation Ambassadors from the Erie St. Clair Service Delivery Centre (SDC) in Windsor set up a second Giving Fence location on Sandwich Street as part of Saint Elizabeth Foundation’s annual Hope & Happiness Campaign.

Items collected through the SDC collection drive, along with this year’s campaign blankets, are now available for community members to take as needed, including coats, scarves, gloves, hats, and quilts.

The Giving Fence provides a simple, accessible way for people to pick up warm clothing and essentials in moments when they need it most, helping us continue to share comfort, dignity, and kindness across the Windsor community.

A warm act of kindness wrapped in comfort. Recently, Journey Home Hospice Windsor received a donation of quilt blankets. Acts of care come in many forms, some made of fabric, compassion, and many thoughtful hours.

We are deeply grateful for the generosity within our community and for the compassion that continues to surround our hospice.

This week in Saint Elizabeth Foundation Holiday Hope & Happiness Campaign, our Central East Service Delivery Centre (SDC), was pleased to donate approximately 100 blankets to Durham Outlook for the Needy (operating St. Vincent Palloti's Kitchen) in Oshawa.

Volunteer Coordinator Hannah shared how meaningful this donation is, noting that warm blankets are a much-needed and deeply appreciated item for patrons, especially at this time of year.

Thank you to our Foundation Ambassador, Laura, for collaborating with an organization in her community that is so appreciative for the efforts of the Hope & Happiness Campaign.

Durham Outlook for the Needy Oshawa is a barrier-free, non-profit community kitchen that has been serving the Durham Region since 1990 and has provided more than 1.4 million meals to those in need. We’re honoured to support the important work they do in the community.
