Precipitous labour - very fast labour.
Can be shocking and jarring and totally unpredictable. Mama often looks like a deer in headlights in those first beautiful post partum moments.

Last night’s precious baby began to signal her imminent arrival just around the time first pitch was thrown in game 3 of the World Series.
By the 5th inning mama was in active labour.
By the time the new party of 3 were well ensconced in their post partum nest, cleaned up, switched floors, well fed, breastfeeding happily and tucked into bed, this doula went home and caught the end of the game.

Labour and Baseball. Totally unpredictable. Go Jays. ⚾️💙

You deserve it mama.

Don’t apologize. It’s YOUR birth. Your day. You will remember it and tell the story for years to come. Your wonderful amazing midwives/nurses/doctors/doulas will not. Don’t minimize your intentions or desires. Go for it. Build your team. Dream big. Let’s make it happen.

I love a reclaiming the birth experience moment.

I love that realization that comes with - OMG. I really did it.

It’s not about what actually happens. Epidural? C section? Pitocin? Hospital? Home? Not the point. It’s about how supported and empowered and informed you feel throughout.
Did every single wish come true? No. Was it painless? Um, no. But it was exactly the way it was supposed to be.

Surrender. And let the magic happen. 💕
