RECIPE: MORNING OATMEAL BOWL

When having oats as your first meal (especially post-workout), it’s important to incorporate a high quality source of protein. Not only is this important for recovery, but also key for satiation. I generally add in a scoop of protein, but you can also incorporate Greek yogurt, egg whites, or chia seeds as a protein alternative.

Base:
1/3 Cup Oats
1 Scoop Vanilla Protein
1/2 Tbsp Flax Seeds

Toppings:
1 Fresh Peach
1/4 Fresh Blueberries
2 Tbsp Pumpkin Seeds
1 Tbsp Hazelnut Butter
Pinch of Cinnamon

There are so many ways to build out a filling oatmeal bowl in the morning, so put together flavour combinations that you enjoy! Just make sure you’re getting a great source of protein and fat along with the carbohydrates and fibre that the oatmeal provides.

The difference between a successful client and an unsuccessful client, in my experience, is pretty simple: motivation and dedication. A trainer can provide a lot of the motivation, but the dedication comes from the client. The client really has to prioritize their health, their fitness, and make a point of taking time out of their busy week. Everybody’s busy, right? You’ve got to take those three or four hours a week, which really isn’t very much out of a week. 24-hour day, seven days, right? Four hours: not a lot of time. People just need to set that in their schedule, really take that time out to prioritize their health and fitness.

The program also, when you get into the gym, is really effective for weight loss purposes. Circuit training and the style of training we do here, combining weight training along with the cardiovascular training is really key to promoting quick simple results; weight loss in a short amount of time, maximizing the time that you spend in the gym.

One of the success stories that I’ve experienced in training was really simple. One of my clients was struggling. She was having a tough time losing weight, really getting discouraged. We made a simple correction in her diet that just made her a little more conscious of what she was eating, how much she was eating, and it turned things right around. She started losing weight, she got really motivated and the pounds just started falling off from there.

We’re hiring an additional Personal Trainer (contractor) to work out of the GTA location. (Downtown Toronto, Thornhill, Markham and Woodbridge)

Ideally the personal trainer has:

- A minimum 2 years experience as a personal trainer (not a group fitness instructor or sports trainer)
- Taken courses beyond the bare minimum
- Has experience with in-home clients, client assessments and building programs
- Knows how to work with clients who have chronic conditions (like diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, post surgery, etc.)

Would you happen to know anyone who might be a good fit? I can't guarantee the job, but I can guarantee an interview. 😊
