February is officially recognized as Black History Month in Canada.
Today we had a special event and discussion for Black History Month in Canada. We were happy to have Olesia Silchuk, a Canada Connects Program worker from North York Community House, share a presentation about the timeline of Black history in Canada. She talked about the many important contributions Black Canadians have made to society here and around the world.
The presentation sparked a really thoughtful conversation. The participants reflected on how important it is to learn more about the people around us — their histories, experiences, and cultures. When we understand each other better, it helps us build stronger connections and feel more comfortable and happy in our community.
