Doulas On Bikes

Doulas On Bikes We are a collective of urban Doulas! If you are looking for a beautiful birthing experience, we are here to help you along the way.

A doula provides knowledge, and caring, unbiased support for your birth and immediate postpartum period. We see each birth and birthing mother as special and deserving of unique care. We are trained in hypnobirthing techniques, acupressure points for labour, and other relaxation strategies. After your bundle arrives, we can help you get your best start, including encapsulation of your placenta, breastfeeding support, and learning to live with baby.

First pregnancy?
How do you know when labour is labour? When donor call the midwife? When is it time to go to the hospital?

What if we wait too long???

Real questions, no clear answer lol.

Having a birth doula on your team brings calm and ease to each of the stages of labour. Your doula communicates with you in the early parts, is by your side until your baby is born and even then sticks around for a couple of hours until everyone has a snack and gets settled in.

Curious to know more? The first consultation is always free 🤑 submit an inquiry through our website and get the conversation started.

Being offered a synthetic oxytocin during labour comes with risks that should be outweighed by the benefits to moving a labour along faster than it would happen if a body is left to labour on its own pace and hormones.

It is considered a high-alert medication that requires specialised monitoring.

It is not a medication that should be misused or overused. Patient consent requires a person to know all the risks, benefits and alternatives before having consent. One should be able to choose yes or no. This informed choice.

In this video, I call it "oxytocin" and so will your midwives, nurses and doctors. Brand names for this medication are Pitocin, Syntocinon, Viatocinon and I once saw Carbetocin used in a Toronto hospital.

Doulas: if you're feeling bored, look up the estimated values of the oxytocin investment market. No, better you don't or you might be enticed to buy!

Current 2026 market value of the oxytocin market is estimated at as high as $133 billion worldwide. GROWTH OF THIS MARKET EXPECTED TO REACH $239,000,000,000 by 2031.

Thats 100 billion growth in 5 years.

Share in the comments your experiences with IV administered oxytocin - whether it felt necessary or felt it was not really needed.

Post for educational purposes and not to cause fear in birth or the medical system.

St. Michael’s Hospital- getting to the Labour and Delivery Unit on the 15th floor.

ADDED COMPLICATION 🚩The intersection of Queen and Yonge is closed and will be for a long time. If driving, approach from the east. Plan your route ahead of time.

Expect that it takes a few minutes from the front entrance until you get to the 15th floor. In active labour, this means you might stop for at least one, maybe 2,3 or even 4 contractions before you get up there.

Don’t walk it alone! Have your partner or birth team member es**rt you up. Perhaps take the walk from the parking garage together or plan for support from a doula, or extra person to have company for the long journey.

Did you birth here? Tell us what you think about hyou hallway in the comments 🧐👀🏥✝️👇🏼
