Healing is stronger when more than one way of knowing is honoured.

At EHN Edgewood Nanaimo, recovery brings together Indigenous traditions and Western care, rooted in ceremony, culture, and lived experience. Our Indigenous Healing Program exists because Indigenous voices asked for care that feels safe, respectful, and whole.

We all run on three kinds of energy: cognitive, emotional, and physical.
When one runs low, it affects the others.

Cognitive energy fuels your focus and decision-making.

Emotional energy helps you connect, cope, and stay compassionate.

Physical energy powers your body to move and rest.

Recovery, healing, and everyday life require all three. That is why rest, nutrition, connection, and boundaries are not luxuries—they are maintenance.

Take a moment to check your tanks today. Which one needs refilling?

It takes honesty to admit what’s really happening inside.

It takes patience to sit with feelings you’ve spent years avoiding.

And it takes bravery to let yourself feel something instead of numbing it.

If that was your win today, we see you.

If you are thinking about how you want to start 2026, consider this an invitation.

Bring your partner. Bring a family member. Bring the people who walked beside you when things were hard, or the ones who are learning how to walk beside you now.

Caregiving often comes with guilt. Guilt for needing space. Guilt for feeling tired. Guilt for saying no.

This is a reminder that boundaries are not acts of selfishness. They are acts of sustainability. They protect your health, your relationships, and your ability to keep showing up with care.

If you are supporting someone you love, you are allowed to have limits. You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to ask for help.

Support starts with recognition.

Listening, validating, and reassuring a loved one with PTSD can ease symptoms and build resilience.

It takes awareness to notice when your mind wants to run ahead or drift away.

It takes strength to anchor yourself in the moment instead of escaping it.

And it takes courage to stay present with what’s real, even when it’s uncomfortable.

If that was your win today, we see you.

Alcohol misuse does not always look like losing everything. It does not always look like drinking every day. It does not always look obvious.

What it often looks like is functioning, like showing up and getting things done. It looks like using alcohol to unwind, to sleep, or to cope with stress. And it looks like setting limits—and breaking them.

Alcohol misuse is about how alcohol fits into your life and what it is replacing.Noticing the difference is about awareness.

In the heart of Calgary, EHN Sandstone Recovery Centre now offers a private eating disorder treatment program designed for young adults, ages 18 to 29. This program provides a home-like environment where healing can happen, supported by a dedicated team of professionals.

At EHN Sandstone, we know that recovery isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. That’s why we take an evidence-based approach to treatment, combining medical care, nutritional support, and therapeutic guidance to ensure each person receives the personalized care they need to move forward.

This program is about creating a space where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported every step of the way. From around-the-clock care to family involvement, we ensure that the support extends beyond the walls of our facility and continues as clients transition back to their daily lives.

Sometimes the signs are quiet. Sometimes they hide behind being capable, dependable, or “fine.”

Carrying too much does not always look like falling apart. It can look like holding everything together while slowly disappearing inside

If any of this feels familiar, let it be a reminder that you are not weak for needing support. You are human.

Share this with someone who might need the reminder today.

EHN Canada

EHN Canada mental health and addiction treatment centres are the largest and most experienced network of adult inpatient & outpatient treatment services in Canada.

Why is this important? Working together we build hope, inspiration and community based on a proven path to recovery. This expansive system allows us to offer treatments for drug, alcohol, sexual compulsion, problem gambling, and eating disorders.

Our core belief is that recovery and quality of life are possible for those in our care. Collaboration, courage and compassion set the tone for the care we provide. We always engage our patients with the respect and honesty they deserve, through every step of their journey towards recovery.

At EHN Canada, no two patients are exactly the same, and our philosophy of care recognizes this. Our treatment plans are designed to set patients and clients on their own individual journeys to recovery. We know that addiction and mental illness thrive in isolation, which is why we create safe, honest, and trusting therapeutic communities for our patients, clients, and families to share in the healing process. This is why we provide ongoing, open-ended support, for as long as you need it. We call it our continuum of care – but more on that later.
