Simple Tips for Healthy Feet.

As we step into a new year, we should make it a priority to take good care of our feet.

Here are some simple tips to help keep your feet healthy.
- Change your socks daily and wear
dry and clean socks.
- Wash your feet with soap and
warm water and remember to dry
thoroughly between the toes.
- Use lotion or cream on your feet
regularly to prevent cracks and
dry skin and remember to avoid
applying between the toes.
- Keep the skin between the toes
dry as excessive moisture can
cause athlete’s foot and infection
- Cut your toenails straight across
and file any sharp nail edges.
- Check your feet regularly and
seek medical attention for painful
corns, calluses or warts.

METATARSALGIA

Do you experience pain in the balls of your feet?
Metatarsalgia is a term used to describe pain in the balls of the feet. Injury, poor footwear, joint diseases, fat pad atrophy and nerve irritation can all cause discomfort in the balls of your feet. As we age, the fat pad on the balls of your feet may start to thin and increase our risk for injury and cause callus or corns to form. Treatment for metatarsalgia as possible. Depending on the cause of the metatarsalgia, use of custom-made orthotics and proper footwear can be beneficial in providing pain relief. For more information, visit our website at

Happy New Year!

As we step into 2021, taking good care of our health including including our feet should be a priority. Our feet can mirror our general well-being. Conditions such as Diabetes, arthritis and circulatory disorders can show their initial symptoms in the feet. Since we use our feet each and every day, it is important to take good care of our feet. If you often experience discomfort in your feet, you should seek medical attention to address the concerns early and find suitable treatment. Foot care treatment can help with removal of painful corns, calluses and plantar warts. If you experience arch, bunion or heel pain, appropriate treatment with orthotics, proper footwear and a stretching regimen can help to alleviate pain and prevent further injury. Taking good care of our feet is essential for us to continue to walk comfortably step by step into 2021. For more information, visit our website at

Painful Flatfeet

Do you experience chronic pain with standing and walking?
A pair of healthy feet should be able to walk comfortably without pain.
Flat feet occur when a pair of feet have an abnormally low medial longitudinal arch.
Having a low arch creates greater stress on the surrounding joints and soft tissue in the feet leading to painful arches and instability. Often people with flat feet experience arch or ankle pain after extended physical activity. For those that have aching flat feet, treatment can help provide pain relief and long-term support. Treatment may consist of stretching and strengthening exercises, proper footwear and custom made orthotics.

Winter is a skin killer! The heat is constantly cranked on high in our homes and the outside air is harsh and cold, resulting in dry skin. Dry skin on our feet can become itchy and crack under the stress of daily activity, which leads to pain and risk of infection, so we recommend using cream or lotion regularly to help moisturize your skin. Look for a cream that features “urea,” an emollient that helps your skin retain moisture and stay hydrated, which can be found in over-the-counter creams like Flexitol Heel Balm and Dermal Therapy. For more information about Urea and Its Benefits to Our Skin read here: http://mccowanfootclinic.ca/urea-benefits-skin/
