By building strong partnerships within the community, we aim to bring services to those who can benefit from integrating music therapy into their care. Community partnerships include those with long-term care facilities, group homes, retirement homes, assisted living facilities, hospices, rehabilitation centres, mental health centres, schools and therapy centres. We also work with families to help bring music therapy to their loved ones in the comfort of their home. Miya Music Therapy aims to create more public awareness on the benefits of music therapy. Building the Creative Care Club app has truly been one of the highlights of my career thus far. Seeing it come to life over the last six months as a tool to support care teams in creating more meaningful moments has been incredibly rewarding.

Over the last 10 years working in dementia care and alongside recreation and care teams at MIYA Creative Care, I’ve seen firsthand just how much intentional, creative-based programs can impact quality of life. I’ve witnessed the most beautiful moments of joy, connection, calm, and meaning through music, movement, art, and thoughtful engagement.

At the same time, I’ve also seen how stretched thin so many incredible professionals are. With limited time, limited resources, and so much on their plates, it can be challenging to consistently create fresh, creative experiences day after day.

That’s exactly why I created the Creative Care Club: a practical membership designed to help teams spend less time planning and more time connecting.

Inside the app are done-for-you creative programs curated by Creative Arts Therapists, 1:1 visit guides, printables, trainings, and ongoing support for teams working in dementia care and aging services.

This Monday, I’m hosting a free webinar where I’ll be sharing more about what Creative Care Club is, how it is supporting teams, what kinds of resources and training are included, and how it can make day-to-day programming much easier and more meaningful.

If you work in recreation, dementia care, senior living, or healthcare, I’d love to have you there! Comment “WEBINAR” or sign up directly at our link in bio!

Please join us in giving a very warm welcome to the newest addition to the MCC team, Linnea MacCullum!

Linnea graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor of Music Therapy and a minor in Psychology. She is a certified music therapist (MTA) and a Professional Affiliate (NMT™) of the Neurologic Music Therapy Academy.

Linnea specializes in working with older adults and individuals with developmental disabilities and dementia in both individual and group sessions. I’m excited to share that The Creative Carecast is officially live 🎙️

This podcast is a space to explore the intersection of creativity, care, and human connection — and how these elements shape the way we support others across healthcare, therapy, and beyond.

Episode 01 features a conversation with Ron Beleno, - where we discuss the role of mindset in caregiving, and how creativity can shift not just what we do, but how we show up.

This is something I’ve been wanting to build for a long time, and I’m looking forward to where these conversations lead.

Also — embracing the imperfections that come with starting something new!  Hope you can stick the journey out with me!

People often think music therapy is just “nice to have”…

Until moments like this happen 💛

When someone who’s been quiet starts singing.
When a resident lights up.
When music therapy supports expression at the end of life.
When a team reconnects in a way they didn’t expect.

This is the part of the work you don’t always see —
but it’s everything.

So grateful for feedback like this, and for the care partners who trust us to bring something special into their spaces 🎵

Why We Need a Multi-Sensory Approach to Mental Health✨

Standard "talk therapy" assumes that everyone processes the world the same way—through verbal language. At MIYA Creative Care, we know that isn't the case.

Our Virtual Psychotherapy Clinic at Creative Psychotherapy Ontario is designed to meet you where you are, especially during life’s most taxing seasons. We provide a specialized, non-linear space for those navigating:

✨Neurodivergence: Supporting ADHD, Autistic, and otherwise neurospicy individuals with a sensory-friendly, creative approach.

✨Burnout & Compassion Fatigue: Aiding the nervous system's recovery when you are too depleted to "explain" your stress.

✨Life Transitions: Finding identity and grounding during moves, career shifts, or family changes.

✨Complex Grief: Honoring the layers of loss that words often fail to capture.

Finding the right therapist is a process. We offer a free virtual consultation so you can meet our team, ask questions about our creative approach, and ensure you feel comfortable before we begin. Click the link in our bio to get started.

Why does music stay when other memories fade?
Because music activates the whole brain — emotion, movement, and memory.

This is one of the reasons music therapy can be so powerful for people living with a dementia diagnosis.

Moments of profound connection can still happen through song!

We’re so excited to share that MIYA Creative Care’s Founder & Director, Miya Adoutt, recently appeared on CTV's The Social to talk about the power of music therapy and its impact in dementia care.

For more than a decade, our team has witnessed how music can reach people in moments when words are no longer enough — helping individuals express themselves, experience joy, and share meaningful moments with the people they love.

What continues to inspire us every day is that music therapy doesn’t just support cognition or mood. It helps people rediscover identity and dignity, creating transformative moments not only for individuals living with dementia, but for families, care partners, and entire care communities.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to help bring awareness to music therapy on a national platform and to highlight the incredible work happening in long-term care and healthcare settings across our communities!

Thank you to The Social team for the thoughtful conversation — and to the care partners, families, and therapists who make this work meaningful every day.
