Growing up, the harsh words of bullies coupled with a constant “dieting” society and the need to “look” a certain way really shifted how I felt about myself and how I looked. In high school I developed an eating disorder – something I felt I could finally control. And though not even about food (the eating disorder – in most cases), this was the act of doing something (I suffered silently with Bulimia Nervosa) when feelings and emotions brought me to a point and situation where I felt out of touch with myself – nervous and anxious, or out of control – and resulted in my binging and purging activities. Though it is something I am not proud of, I have realized over the years that my going through this has helped in shaping and shifting me into the person I am today and more so, share my story with others and help them get to a point where they are absolutely in love with who they are – their value and worth in this world.

A little thought for you today as you make your way through March Break…..I LOVE a good salad, but it should be balanced with your macros to keep you full and satisfied for a few hours at least. Many times I have clients who indicate they find themselves reaching for a sweet treat, chips or chocolate soon after their meal…..and ALTHOUGH many factors can be at play……such as how fast they ate, how hungry they were, mood/mentality, sleep, and stress, MOST times I find they aren’t including a carb with their meal…..
So balance your meal right from the start. Eat mindfully. Eat slowly. And see if it makes a difference!

There was a time when I’d look at a picture of cake and ask myself how much time I’d have to spend at the gym to burn it off. Or simply tell myself I wasn’t allowed to have it. But life is so much more than that. And food is so much more than that! This picture reminds me of gathering with family and enjoying not only one another’s company, but good food while you’re with them!

Save this for your next fish fry……to get dinner on the table in less than 20 minutes!
Fish not only thaws quickly, but it also can cook quickly. I usually bake my fish, but felt like a little cast iron cook with salt and lime and this fish didn’t stand a chance of being left over!
Served with jasmine rice (cooked with water, salt and butter), and a side salad, this meal came together in no time!
Only thing missing from this meal was the island and beach to enjoy it on! 🐠🏝️

I love a good salad. It’s so easy to put together a simple one to include with our dinner every night, but you can also easily get bored with salads. So building an epic salad with flavour, fun, nutrients from multiple food groups is the way to go! Adding nuts or seeds, cheese, proteins, fruit, beans, crunchy tortillas or switching up your dressing can make salads a go to meal every day! You Just gotta be creative!
