Elizabeth has not walked since she suffered a stroke 8 years ago. Today she walked 3 steps independently for the first time. She discovered that training was not enough—instead she needed to understand her mind and body more slowly and deeply. Fear, anxiety and frustration has opened up into a new openness—with these small 3 steps Beth has proven that she's going to walk ❤️

Made this video to motivate a CP child named Owens! 🙂 There are a lot of silly inside jokes but the pain was real— it came from the bodymind process of releasing Owens nerves. That's him on karaoke singing his favorite song....crazy AMAZING boy went from walking on crutches to walking in one month ❤️

ASP founder Yuji Oka continues to make new discoveries in his groundbreaking process of working with disability. In his recent trips to the UK and Jakarta, he has incorporated new bodywork techniques to release spasticitiy in children with CP. The results have been dramatic and significant for children in this population and has the potential to redefine the treatment for spasticity. One parent wrote:

"We have just had 2 incredible weeks with Yuji. My son’s physio saw him today and he was stunned with the changes in him. He actually looked sad that Yuji helped him in 2 weeks when he has been trying for months 😄 He said there is a massive difference in his global tone and he is much more relaxed. He said if this is his new baseline then that's life changing for us all and it will be alot easier to do movement with him.

Yuji was amazing and has given us an insight into our son that we would never have had otherwise. He is creative and thinks outside the box's box. He is a genius and understands the body in a very profound and thought provoking way which makes complete sense when he explains his thought process. He has improved my son's tone and given us an insight into his potential which is truly life changing for me and my family. I would highly recommend a session with him, you won't be disappointed."

We believe that the natural somatic bodymind interventions of ASP will eventually help millions of children with disability around the world—the next few years will be very exciting for our team at SMC and we hope you will follow us on our world-wide journey to help those who need it ❤️

After we a two year search we have found our new International Spiral Movement Center studio! This amazing building was built by a Swiss engineer on an acre of land in Thailand and was practically given to us at low cost. The space features a 2nd floor movement studio and enough space to host visiting families locally and abroad. In the future we hope to expand the property to include a prototyping workshop to create low-cost equipment for kids with disabilities, a film studio for online content creation, and an outdoor pavillion & cabins for trainings and retreats. Along with our new studio in Toronto, we hope to continue to bring Spiral Praxis forwards—viva la bodymind! ❤️
