Thank you to everyone who joined us at Momiji this past Saturday for our last fundraising event of the year! The Momiji Holiday Market returned for a third year to fill Momiji with holiday cheer. We had over 30 local vendors selling a wide variety of arts and crafts, plus a Momiji Vintage Pop-Up run by our volunteers, our Oshare Craft Club, and a Holiday Market raffle!

Welcome to Momiji Holiday Market's third year! Join us today until 4pm at 3555 Kingston Road!

We have a wonderful selection of local vendors, selling all kinds of arts and crafts, and of course food. In support of Momiji, we have the Momiji Vintage section run by Japonica volunteers and a Holiday Market Raffle with amazing prizes donated by our vendors.

Photos from the snowy days earlier in November! Between colourful fall leaves and the blanket of snow, the Momiji garden was a unique and beautiful sight.

Our garden might not look quite so festive this weekend, but inside will be full of holiday cheer during our Holiday Market! Join us from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, November 22nd. Admission is free, although donations are encouraged. See you at Momiji! 🍁

A message from Catherine and Danielle, our Ichi-go Ichi-e Co-chairs:

During a recent regular inspection by Toronto Public Health (TPH), Momiji was made aware of TPH regulations relating to food preparation at special events that may require some adjustments on our part to comply with these regulations.

Keeping our community safe by adhering to the TPH guidelines is important to us, and our committee met at length over the past few weeks to determine if and how we could adjust. Given the short timelines, and the lack of clarity from TPH in response to multiple requests on how we could adapt to ensure adherence, we do not feel we have sufficient information and time to implement potential changes that may be required. Therefore, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming event "Ichi-go Ichi-e: A Japanese Tea Experience", scheduled for Sunday, November 30, 2025.

As Momiji continues to liaise with TPH about food-based services at various special events, this committee will take time to consider how this event can succeed in the future. The Ichi-go Ichi-e Committee extends a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us prepare this event, from the countless volunteers, to our special presenters Tetsu and Aya, to our valued patrons. Thank you!

All tickets will be refunded.

Ichi-go Ichi-e: A Japanese Tea Experience returns this November! Come immerse yourself in the delightful world of Japanese tea at Momiji by buying a ticket for the whole experience, or enjoying the free portion of the event!

📆 Sunday, November 30th

Three sessions throughout the day that each include an expert presentation about an aspect of Japanese culture, and a sit-down tea service. The tea service menu developed and prepared by volunteers includes savoury, scone, and sweet courses. But this classic tea service structure has a Japanese twist, including Japanese flavours and foods! Each course will be accompanied by a tea that compliments it.

10:00am to 10:50am – Tea Brewing and Tasting Session with Tetsu of Kawagiri Tea
11:00am to 12:00pm – Tea Service

🍵 Group Two
12:00pm to 12:50pm – What is Ikebana? with Aya of Aya Ikebana
1:00pm to 2:00pm – Tea Service

🍵 Group Three
2:00pm to 2:50pm – Introduction to Japanese Tea with Tea Sommelier Danielle
3:00pm to 4:00pm – Tea Service

Tickets are $75 for one session/group, or $60 for Momiji Members. There are limited quantities, to keep the talks and tea services intimate and engaging, but we still have room in all three sessions. To buy your tickets, call 416-261-6683 ext. 260 or 259!

From 10:00am to 4:30pm, Momiji's Craft Room will be open for tea tasting and a teaware sale from the Japonica collection. Shop from a selection of teaware, including teacups, teapots, sets, and tea accessories.

❗ Support the Event
We are asking tea companies for donations of bulk tea that we can prepare and serve to our guests. Companies will be thanked on signage at our event and on our social media, as well as receiving a gift-in-kind tax receipt.

Momiji Holiday Market is coming very soon! 🎄

Now that November is here, the holiday season is almost upon us! Drop by Momiji on November 22nd for some festive cheer and plenty of opportunities to shop for gifts. We’ll have an amazing selection of over 30 local vendors, selling their creations—arts and crafts of all kinds, and of course food! Check out the end of this post for the full list of vendors.

On top of that, the team behind Japonica will be holding a small sale of second-hand treasures donated to Momiji! 100% of money raised by sales in the Momiji Vintage section goes back to Momiji.

Admission is free, although we encourage guests to make a small donation at the door to help support the event.

At the end of September, Momiji launched our newly refreshed Membership program. The price of being a Momiji Member is increasing, but the benefits of being a member are increasing too!

Being a Momiji Member means you are giving us your vote of confidence in the work we do to support seniors. All new members can enjoy benefits like coupons for Maru Sun restaurant and Momiji Café, discounts on Momiji Education classes, discounts on select Momiji events, plus an Annual Member’s Day. Members will still receive an invitation to our Annual General Meeting in September and voting rights there.

Congratulations to Donna (Chiyo) Mitobe, the winner of our Summer Halfsies 50/50 Raffle! After some delays, she was presented with her winner's cheque today by Dawna, longtime Momiji volunteer who leads the raffle fundraiser.

The raffle made $6,545 in total, which meant $3,272.50 for this lucky winner and $3,272.50 for Momiji! Thank you to everyone who supported this fundraiser by promoting it and buying tickets!

Keep an eye out for our Holiday Halfsies 50/50 Raffle coming in November! The next winner could be you!
