💛 Anticipatory Grief Support

Grief can begin before a loss happens. Anticipatory grief is the set of emotions people may feel when facing an expected loss — including sadness, worry, anger, and exhaustion. These feelings are valid, and you don’t have to carry them alone.

Support is available through our Bereavement Support programs, including one-to-one volunteer support and expressive art therapy.

Helpful coping strategies:
• Name and acknowledge your feelings
• Talk with a trusted support person
• Create small daily grounding routines
• Express emotions through writing or art
• Seek guided grief support

💜 International Women’s Day 2026: Give To Gain 💜

In 2022, more than half of all Canadian women aged 15 and older provided some form of care to children or care‑dependent adults — a role that can bring fulfillment, but also emotional and physical demands.

At Hospice Toronto, we celebrate the strength and compassion of women caregivers who support families through serious illness, transitions, and daily life.

This International Women’s Day, we honour their contribution and encourage everyone to Give To Gain — through support, advocacy, and care that uplifts women, families, and communities.

💛 Young Carers Program Spotlight

We’re proud to highlight the impact of our Young Carers Program through feedback from the families we serve.

From hands-on creative projects to youth leadership sessions, YCP offers young carers a supportive space to connect with peers, build skills, and grow their confidence. Families often share how meaningful and energizing these experiences are for their children.

Thank you to the parents and youth who continue to share their journeys with us — it’s a privilege to be part of it. 🌱

💛 This Family Day, Love Is in Every Act of Care 💛

Family Day is about celebrating the people we hold close — but we know it can also be a difficult day for those who are grieving, isolated, or caring for a loved one with a serious illness.

At Hospice Toronto, we see the love that shows up every day:

- Volunteers who bring comfort and companionship

- Families who support each other through life’s most challenging moments

Today, we honour all acts of love and connection, and remind you that you are not alone. Hospice Toronto is here to provide support, guidance, and care — before, during, and after end-of-life.
