Did you know?

According to the 2022 Canadian Survey on Disability (CSD), individuals with disabilities have a lower median income ($38,810) compared to those without disabilities ($46,080). This income gap limits access to essential digital resources like high-speed internet, creating barriers to equal participation in the workforce.

Canada’s digital future must work for everyone.

Explore what it takes to bridge the digital divide in Article 3 of CCRW’s 2025 Trends Report: From Divide to Inclusion: Digital Access, Accessibility, & Skills Development.

⚠️ Barrier Alert: Fast video calls can leave people behind.

Many job seekers and employees with disabilities face communication barriers in online meetings, especially when conversations move quickly or voices overlap. A simple shift can make participation more accessible:

➤ Slow the pace
➤ Avoid rapid-fire discussion
➤ Rotate turns to speak
➤ Encourage the use of the Raise Hand" feature
➤ Value different communication styles

Small changes create space for every voice. đź’ś

CCRW was honoured to gather alongside Inclusion Canada DAWN Canada and British Columbia Aboriginal Network on Disability Society (BCANDS) to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD).

We spent the afternoon connecting with community members, advocates, Senators, MPs, government representatives, and fellow disability organizations, reflecting on progress made and the work still ahead.

reminds us that accessibility is not an end goal, but a continued commitment. Today we celebrated disability pride, leadership, and the power of collaboration to build a more inclusive Canada.
