Cracked heels are extremely common in the winter months 👣❄️

Cold, dry air can lead to thick calluses and reduced skin elasticity, which is why heels often begin to split and crack under pressure.

A chiropodist can safely remove dead skin, treat the area properly, and recommend the right foot cream to help prevent it from coming back.

Most dads will fix anything… except their feet 👣

Foot care is often overlooked by older men until pain becomes unavoidable. But ignoring issues can lead to ingrown toenails, painful calluses, fungal infections, and progressive changes like bunions or hammertoes.

Foot care is for everyone. Taking action early can help prevent bigger problems later on.

Staying consistent with gentle foot and balance exercises can be especially helpful for people living with diabetes 👣

Toe walking is a simple way to build strength. Rise up onto your tiptoes, take a few small controlled steps forward, then return to a normal standing position.

The figure 8 movement is great for ankle mobility. Keep your heel on the floor while slowly tracing an 8 shape with your foot to encourage control and circulation.

Standing single leg lifts are another helpful option. Lifting one leg at a time can support balance and stability, which are key for overall foot health.

Dry, flaky feet or a fungal infection? They can look similar, but there are a few key differences 👣

Foot fungus often develops in areas that stay warm and damp, like between the toes or across the soles. It may appear more red, rough, or patchy, and it is usually much itchier. Some people also notice an unpleasant smell.

Dry skin is typically more consistent across the foot. It tends to look ashy or dull, flakes evenly, and usually starts to improve once you moisturize regularly with the right foot cream.

If your skin is not responding to moisturizer or the irritation keeps coming back, it may be more than dryness. A foot specialist can assess it and recommend the right next steps.

Hey Foot Fam, here’s how years of wearing the wrong shoes can impact your feet 👣

This patient wore high heels and narrow shoes for years, and now has a bunion with toes beginning to shift and overlap. If not managed, this can continue to worsen, especially with tight footwear.

That’s why our chiropodists recommend a full assessment and a footwear audit to address any underlying biomechanical issues. The sooner you get your feet checked, the easier it is to prevent painful problems later on.

How many of these everyday foot care mistakes sound a little too familiar? 👣

A lot of people forget about proper nail trimming, skip moisturizing, or try to handle ingrown toenails on their own. Wearing shoes that do not fit correctly is another big one, and one of the most common issues of all is simply ignoring foot pain and hoping it goes away.

Small habits can lead to bigger problems over time, so paying attention early really matters.

Core strength is about more than abs. It supports your spine, improves balance, and helps protect you from injury during everyday movement 💪

Front and side planks challenge stability, dead bug exercises build control and coordination, and glute bridges activate the muscles that support your core and lower back. Together, these movements help create a strong, stable foundation.

Focus on slow, controlled movement and proper form to get the most benefit. Comment below if you want more core strengthening exercises 👇

Umm… hey Foot Fam, does this actually work? Let’s talk about it 👣

We checked in with our chiropodists about using baking soda and vinegar for toenail fungus. While these ingredients can slightly change the environment around the nail, they do not have evidence to support treating an active fungal infection. In very mild or early situations, they may help a little, but that is the limit.

Toenail fungus typically sits underneath and within the nail itself, which makes home remedies ineffective. Proper treatment often involves prescription antifungal products. For those treatments to work, the nail usually needs to be professionally thinned and debrided so medication can reach the infection.

Home remedies might sound appealing, but seeing a professional gives you the best chance at real results. If you are dealing with toenail fungus, send us a DM or book an appointment through the link in our bio.

As the owner of a foot clinic, there are a few things I am extra cautious about when it comes to my child’s feet.

I would never let them walk barefoot in shared spaces like change rooms or pool decks, wear shoes that do not fit properly, or go without proper arch support. I also would not let them cut or pick at their own toenails, since that can easily lead to injuries or ingrown nails.

These habits might seem small, but they play a big role in keeping growing feet healthy, supported, and pain free all year long.

Thick calluses are not just a skin issue. They are often a sign of how your feet are functioning.

When someone has flat feet, the arches collapse and the foot rolls inward. That changes how weight is distributed, placing extra pressure along the inside of the big toe and heel. Over time, that repeated pressure leads to excessive callus buildup.

This is why having your feet properly assessed matters. Your feet can reveal underlying issues long before pain shows up elsewhere in the body.

If you are dealing with thick or recurring calluses, send us a DM to book an appointment.

Most people do not prioritize their foot health.
And sure, that might feel fine right now.

But your feet are your body’s foundation. They support your weight, your movement, and everything you do every day. Ignoring them long term can lead to pain, compensation, and bigger issues that show up over time.

A little care now can save you a lot of discomfort later. Your future self will thank you.
