WIDEN (Workshops for Inter-Discipline Exchange & Novelty) aims to reveal shared projects and symbiotic insights. Each WIDEN meeting consists of three or four 10- to 15-minute presentations of research on a common theme by people working in different disciplines, followed by a half-hour of discussion. Prompting conversations among musicians and medical students, political scientists and architects,
historians and zoologists, philosophers and physicists, WIDEN breaks down disciplinary walls and creates community even as it celebrates ingenuity. The series was founded by Jessica Duffin Wolfe in 2009 at the University of Toronto, and now has growing communities at Massey College, York, UTSC, and Ryerson.
