How many times have you fallen for the fun person?
The one that likes to live life to the fullest?
They love to push limits, take risks, and as we observe,
they seem like the version of us that we wish we'd let loose, right?
They're exciting, fun, even wild and perhaps addictive...
But as we get to know them, we begin to notice the subtle signs,
radical changes in behaviors, mood swings, instability,
lack of commitment, excuses, disappearing acts, silence, confusion...
And the shinny object that used to dazzle us begins to tarnish...
I can tell you from personal experience that normal can seem boring, but it's a lot easier to add excitement to something stable than to try to calm the waters of toxicity and dysfunction.
And once you're in those waters, the struggle to keep your head above
water is real....
So the next time you find yourself in a relationship that you think is boring,
count your blessings and talk with your partner about how you can spice things up.
Go to therapy or simply focus on what makes you happy.
Because distractions will always be there, but it's much easier to spice up 'normal', than to de-spice toxic.
