Important Safety Reminders for Halloween: As the spookiest night of the year approaches, it's essential to be aware of potential hazards for your pets.
Among the top seasonal risks are: Chocolate and confections, which can cause vomiting, tremors, or seizures, even in small quantities.
Sugar-free treats containing xylitol pose a particular threat to canine health.
Additionally, beware of foreign body ingestion from decorations, tinsel, ribbon, gift wrap, bones, and small toy parts.
Festive plants like poinsettias, lilies, and mistletoe can cause mild irritation to kidney failure in cats and dogs.
Lastly, be mindful of stress and anxiety caused by loud noises, costumes, and unfamiliar guests, particularly in shy or anxious animals.

World Rabies Day, and events associated with it, play a critical role in supporting rabies prevention and elimination efforts worldwide. It’s an opportunity to raise awareness and advocate for the elimination of one of the world’s deadliest zoonoses. This year, with the theme, “Act Now: You, Me Community”, the GARC calls on everyone to take responsibility and work together to drive real change. You, me communities calls on individuals, groups and societies to vaccinate dogs, support rabies elimination efforts and organise vaccination campaigns to prevent the spread of the disease.
