Our passion and expertise grows out of a deep personal understanding of learning disabilities. DJ Cunningham, CEO has a significant learning disability, as does his brother. In school he faced all the issues of those with hidden disabilities: feelings of inadequacy and stupidity, concealment, embarrassment, ridicule, teasing, being viewed as lazy or defiant. He used common coping mechanisms such as becoming invisible; acting out; and at times and with growing sophistication, “playing the LD card.” At Trent University, he discovered assistive technologies and a door to independence and academic success opened. DJ has been a user of Assistive Technologies for the past 10 years and has trained hundreds of students and led numerous training workshops. Rick Cunningham, CFO has extensive experience in Special Education as a teacher, working at Thistletown Regional Centre and as a teacher diagnostician at The Child Development Clinic of the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children. He has been an elementary and high school principal with the Toronto and York Region District School Boards. As a principal, he implemented a model of full inclusion supported by assistive technologies universally accessible on all computers in the school. Currently he is also the Associate Director of the Bachelor of Education Program at Tyndale University in Toronto. and have been service providers for SEA claims training,PD sessions, Tutoring, Tech Camps and keynote speeches on Assistive Technologies. Our vision for Assistive Technology has grown and we now see it as truly necessary for some but beneficial for all.

Because when we’re supporting school boards across the province — helping educators navigate new tools, new expectations, and new learning environments — our leadership must be as adaptive and innovative as the technology we support.

💙 Today, on Dyslexia Awareness Day, we celebrate learners who think differently and shine in their own ways.

Our CEO and founder, DJ Cunningham, knows this journey personally. As a child with dysphonetic dyslexia and ADHD, reading and writing were major challenges until the support of his family and assistive technology 💻 gave him the tools to succeed.

At 24, DJ founded LEARNstyle Ltd., now Canada’s largest K–12 educational training company. He leads a team dedicated to empowering students with assistive technology, coaching, and programs like our Reading Intervention 📚, which has supported over 900 students with 65,000+ hours of one-on-one instruction.

Today, we celebrate DJ’s journey and every learner proving that embracing difference unlocks potential. 🌟

Today, on September 30th, we pause to honour Truth and Reconciliation Day, also known as Orange Shirt Day. This day is a time to reflect on the ongoing impact of residential schools, to honour Survivors, their families, and communities, and to recognize the strength and resilience of Indigenous Peoples.

At LEARNstyle, we acknowledge that reconciliation is not a single day—it is a continuous commitment to listening, learning, and taking meaningful action.
