Why is the Old Age Security increasing for those 75 years and older?
As seniors are living longer, many are at risk of outliving their savings and are experiencing increased financial vulnerability as they age.
Evidence shows that as seniors get older, they:
• tend to have lower income
• often face higher health-related expenses because of the onset of illness or disability
• are less able to supplement their income with paid work
• are more at risk of widowhood
