Weaving Wellness Centre

Weaving Wellness Centre The Weaving Wellness Centre was founded in January 2020 by Tera Beaulieu.

As a psychotherapist, Tera had a clear vision for a clinical and consulting practice that would be rooted in principles of story, wholism, spirit, relationship and justice. In its clinical and consulting work, the Centre welcomes and aims to support all those who are focused on growth, transformation and change, and specializes in working with Indigenous peoples and communities from culturally grounded perspectives of mental health, well-being and healing. The Weaving Wellness Centre and its helpers are committed to innovation and education within the field of mental health, and endeavour to contribute and create positive change to understandings of wellness and healing within individual, community and National spaces.

At the Weaving Wellness Centre, we honour Solstice as a time when the land invites us into stillness, balance, and gentle renewal. As the sun pauses, we’re reminded of the teachings that guide our work: that healing is cyclical, relationships matter, and slowing down is medicine.

For many Indigenous peoples, Solstice marks a moment to reflect on what we’ve carried this year — the joys, the grief, the growth, and the parts of our spirit that need tending. Mental health is shaped by connection: to culture, to community, to land, and to our own rhythms. This season reminds us that light returns slowly, and that rest is a necessary part of wellness.

We also hold space for those navigating heavier feelings at this time. Whether you are finding comfort in ceremony, in community, or in quiet moments alone, your story and your wellness matter. You deserve support that honours your whole self — mind, body, spirit, and heart.
As the light begins its return, we offer warmth, gratitude, and care to all our relatives. May this Solstice bring grounding, gentleness, and a renewed sense of balance.

In community,

The Weaving Wellness Centre will be closed for the holidays from December 22–26, 2025. We will also be closed on January 1, 2026.

We know this season can bring many different emotions — joy, connection, grief, overwhelm, or a mix of all of these. For some, this time of year can be especially hard. Please take gentle care of yourselves in whatever ways feel accessible: reaching out to trusted supports, connecting with culture, spending time on the land, or simply giving yourself permission to rest.
From all of us at WWC, we wish you warmth, safety, and moments of ease over the holidays. May your celebrations, big or small, bring connection and comfort.

With warmth,
The Weaving Wellness Centre

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we honour the unique strengths and challenges within Indigenous mental health.

For many Indigenous peoples, mental health cannot be separated from culture, community, land, and spirit. The impacts of colonial violence — residential schools, the Sixties and Millennial Scoops, systemic racism, and ongoing oppression — continue to shape how mental health is experienced across generations.

We also lift up and honour our Two-Spirit relatives, who hold sacred roles in our communities yet face disproportionate rates of violence, discrimination, and barriers to care. Supporting Two-Spirit mental health means creating spaces that are safe, affirming, and grounded in culture and kinship.

Indigenous healing practices remind us that wellness is holistic — mind, body, heart, and spirit. On this day, and every day, we commit to carrying this understanding forward in how we care for one another.

Carolynne Crawley, will share about the teachings that have guided her since a young child to connect and support her relationship with all beings. She will share ways that guide people to build responsible and reciprocal relations with Mother Earth, along with ways to deepen this relationship.

Indigenous peoples around the Earth deeply understand the interwoven relationships between all beings. Indigenous Elders speak of the individual and collective responsibility we all have to be in a healthy and reciprocal relationship with Mother Earth. This is more important now than any time in history. As we witness and experience the impacts of a climate crisis/extreme weather, wars/conflicts and injustices, often governments and corporations move slowly to make any change. We need to be the change as it starts with each and every one of us. "Indigenous people only make up about 5% of the world's population, yet protect 80% of the world's biodiversity."
Carolynne Crawley

Carolynne Crawley, founder of Msit No’kmaq, is Mi'kmaw, Black and Irish. She is from Mi’kma’ki territory also known today as Nova Scotia. But Tkaronto has been her home for the past fifty years. She is the founder of Msit No’kmaq, an initiative dedicated to reconnecting people with the land, waters, and all beings through land-based teachings. Carolynne is also the founder of Turtle Protectors, a community-led initiative developed in collaboration with Indigenous Elders and community members to protect and advocate for turtle relatives. A passionate advocate for social and environmental justice, she leads workshops, forest therapy walks, and community projects grounded in Indigenous knowledge. She is a certified Forest Therapy Guide, Blanket Exercise Facilitator, and a member of the Indigenous Land Stewardship Circle.

🌈✨ June 21 | National Indigenous Peoples Day x Pride Month ✨🌈

Today, and every day, we honour the strength, beauty, and brilliance of Indigenous Peoples from coast to coast to coast. June 21 is a time to gather in celebration of our diverse Nations, cultures, languages, and teachings — and to uplift the voices and visions of Indigenous communities in all our fullness.
🌞 This day also marks the Summer Solstice, a sacred time in many Indigenous cultures — a moment to honour the sun, the land, and the cycles of renewal, growth, and balance.
At the Weaving Wellness Centre, we recognize that Indigenous wellness is not one-size-fits-all — it is expansive, dynamic, and rooted in culture, community, and connection. We also hold deep respect and love for 2SLGBTQIA+ community members, and affirm that q***rness and Indigeneity have always existed together in rich, powerful, and sacred ways.
🏳️‍🌈 As we continue to celebrate Pride Month, we recommit to fostering safer, inclusive, and affirming spaces for Two-Spirit, q***r, and trans Indigenous folks across all of our programming — clinical, cultural, and community-based.
We see you. We honour you. We celebrate you. 🌿

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 🧠🌿

At the Weaving Wellness Centre, we recognize that mental health for Indigenous peoples is not only about the absence of mental health issues—it’s about presence: of culture, of community, of land, of spirit.

This month, we honour the strength and complexity of Indigenous mental health. For many of the people we support, wellness is deeply connected to intergenerational stories, ceremony, identity, and kinship. It’s also shaped by the ongoing impacts of colonial systems—racism in health care, the child welfare system, housing insecurity, and the loss of land and language.

We believe that healing happens when people are seen in the fullness of who they are. That’s why our work is rooted in trauma-informed, culturally grounded care that values Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and healing.

This May—and every month—we affirm that:
🌿 Culture is medicine
🤝 Community care is essential
🔥 Healing is possible
🏹 Indigenous sovereignty is mental wellness

Whether you’re accessing therapy through our Low-Fee Clinic, joining one of our community circles, or finding support as a front-line worker—we see you, and we’re holding space for your story.
