"... What is happening in the world is a projection of what is happening inside each one of us; what we are is what the world is." - Krishna Murti - Think on These Things
While reading this book, this particular line came up and smacked me in the face. In an age where I'm finding selfishness rules most of the time, this jumped off the page. I remember my first thoughts were, "Oh please no!!". If we entertain this thought for a moment, it really is quite a sad thought. I really do try hard to be kind, loving, supportive to friends and strangers. So I ask myself am I really? I give up my seat on the subway when there is someone in greater need. I offer my ear, my time, my guidance if asked for and always a shoulder to help bear the load if necessary. I thought how is this possible. This is a difficult time of year for me personally, but I still try to muster up a smile, share a laugh. I have difficulty this time of year with the darkness, I really and truly miss the light. I await with great anticipation, December 21. I will be attending a Winter Solstice celebration. A day which celebrates the shortest day and the longest night. A turning point in which we can look forward to the slow but steady return of light.
We are also approaching our Christmas season. A time when we are asked to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, who is often referred to as the light of the world. A truly great prophet whose teachings have survived over 2,000 years. Whether you are Christian or not, there is great wisdom in what he taught.
So as I approach the winter solstice and the holiday season. I invite you take a little time to ponder, in this time of darkness, would you take the time to consider how you spread your light in the world. When you wake up in the morning and planning your day, whether you leave the house or not, how are you going to make a difference today? How is your light going to shine and invite others to let their light shine as well?
I cannot bear the thought that the world is a projection of what is happening inside us. If it is, I ask you, please help to change it.
OM Shanti, shanti, shanti ... peace, peace, peace
