I got to spend the weekend feeding my soul with these beauties. Nothing grounds me like spending time in nature and connecting with old friends.
What feeds your soul?

Today’s moment of joy: The look of sheer glee on my children’s faces as they hand me my a #$ on a platter in a family game of Monopoly!

I actually don’t like the game at all but I love playing games with my kids. As Toronto moves into another couple of weeks of a stay-at-home order, I continue to focus on finding my moments of joy.

What is your moment of joy on this snowy weekend?

Moment of Joy entry for the day. ... Charcuterie boards always bring me some joy. But sharing it with my 8 year old on a Friday afternoon made it even better!

Truth be told, I haven’t been feeling super joyful the last couple of days. Today I needed to choose to create my moment or it just wasn’t going to happen. I’m fortunate that I’m in a state of mind in which I can choose joy. I know not everyone is in that space right now. But if you are, I encourage you to do your best to create a moment of joy for yourself today. It doesn’t matter how big or how small.

What is your moment of joy today?

Joy list entry for the day.

I feel joy when I hang out with this guy. Especially when he’s playing nicely like this instead of trying to chew up my favourite blanket. 😉

Which moment makes it on your joy list today?

This was the gorgeous sunrise I got to see on my Saturday morning walk. And standing there watching it, I experienced a moment of joy.

I’ve been silent on IG the last little while. I think I was stuck in feeling that I needed to post something profound in order to be helpful in these crazy times. But I also know that that’s not how this actually works. It is the little things that add up to big shifts. Like orienting ourselves to moments of joy. That’s why I often ask my clients to create a joy list. A list of things that bring them joy or have brought them joy in the past. And then we figure out how they can start to orient themselves toward noticing those things and including them in their lives.

So for the next little while, I’m going to try to post things that make it on my joy list. Hopefully it will be a bit of inspiration for you to create your own joy list.

Wishing you all a little moment of joy in your day!

I am always thankful for my health. But between Covid and watching friends and family struggle with some really big health issues...never have I been more thankful for my health than in 2020.

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy Thanksgiving!

One part of me has been saying that I don’t have the right to speak on this, and the other has been saying that I can’t keep silent. The second part won.

People are angry. I’m angry. We should all be angry. Let’s name what is going on systemically....it’s racism. And it doesn’t just happen in the States, it happens here in Canada too. It happens in big ways and small ways. It happens every day. And it needs to stop.

Anger isn’t a “bad” emotion. There are no bad emotions. Anger is a signal. It’s a signal to other emotions, like fear and sorrow. It’s a signal to take action. I’ve been paralyzed, not knowing how to take action. Then I came across an initiative by some RSWs, Yemi Otukoya, Susan Bascillo, and Melissa Taylor . They’re raising funds to provide low cost, black led mental health supports for black communities. This is important work. And it gives me hope. See my stories for their post. Supporting their efforts is how I’ve chosen to turn my anger into action. How will you take action?
