Meet the newest team member at DAT: Pedro Hernandez

Pedro is a Registered Massage Therapist with a strong clinical focus on assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-informed care. He works with clients experiencing musculoskeletal dysfunction, postural imbalances, chronic tension, and injury-related concerns, using targeted therapeutic techniques to support recovery, pain reduction, and improved mobility. Pedro utilizes assessment to ensure care is structured, goal-oriented, and aligned with the client's specific needs.

While maintaining a clinical approach, Pedro believes that effective treatment should also feel restorative. He intentionally creates a therapeutic and calming environment, blending focused clinical work with a relaxing atmosphere to support both physical results and nervous system regulation. His approach allows clients to feel at ease while receiving purposeful, outcome-driven care.

Outside of practice, Pedro enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time at the beach—activities that reflect his appreciation for movement, balance, and overall well-being.

He will be working Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-8 pm starting this week.

**Mobility:

Why it matters more than you think**

Mobility is your body’s ability to move freely and comfortably through your daily activities. It affects how you walk, bend, reach, lift, and even how you sit. When mobility decreases, everything feels harder — and stiffness, pain, or fatigue often follow.

Why mobility decreases:

• Long hours of sitting
• Lack of regular movement
• Previous injuries
• Muscle tightness or weakness
• Joint stiffness or age‑related changes

Signs your mobility needs attention:

• Feeling stiff when you wake up
• Difficulty bending, twisting, or reaching
• Tight hips, hamstrings, or shoulders
• Reduced stride length when walking
• Needing to “warm up” just to move comfortably

How our clinic helps:

• Physiotherapy to restore joint range of motion
• Chiropractic care to improve alignment and movement
• Massage therapy to release tight, overworked muscles
• Personalized mobility routines you can use at home

Simple ways to improve mobility:

• Take deep, relaxed breaths
• Stretch tight areas gently and consistently
• Strengthen your core and glutes• Add light mobility drills to your warm‑up• Stay active throughout the day

If stiffness or limited mobility is affecting your comfort or performance, we can help.

Guess Who's Back?!?!?!

One of our original RMT's, Marc Lalonde is back at Davisville Active Therapy.

Marc is a skilled Registered Massage Therapist who focuses on using deep tissue massage to help his clients release patterns of tension in their bodies. Knowing that the wear and tear of everyday life can often create restriction and pain in the myofascial system, he uses massage as a therapeutic means of both deep relaxation and pain relief with such conditions as chronic soft tissue pain, tension headaches and repetitive stress injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome. Marc utilizes myofascial and trigger point techniques with deep tissue massage to address postural and repetitive strain issues, sports and motor vehicle injuries.
Marc likes to jog, practice yoga and kung fu. He loves wilderness hiking, canoeing and camping across Canada.

Women's Health Review #12.
It is so nice to see some work by the International Olympic Committee to recommend injury prevention for female, woman and/or girl athletes. This appears to be long, but I added in the consensus statements at the end. I think you will need to access the article to see them clearly. http://bjsm.bjm.com/
