Eating for the seasonđ¸ď¸â
â
The cornerstone of natural health is: How can we maintain an internal balance so that our bodies are best able to heal themselves? â
â
An important part of this is eating food which not only fuels our body with the right nutrients but also helps to harmonize what is happening in the world around us with what is happening inside of us. â
â
As the weather becomes colder, we move away from raw fresh fruits and veggies which are no longer in season and are energetically cold. In winter, when the world is cold and congealed and raw, our bodies need food which is denser and richer, things which will nourish us deeply.â
â
Miso is a wonderful food that provides our stomachs with a probiotic hit while also providing the 'Salty' flavour which associated with our foundational Kidney Qi.â
â
Eggs are excellent nourishers of Qi and Blood and moisten the body.â
â
Seaweed is again deeply nourishing for the Kidneys.
â
Mushrooms are earthy and nourish our digestive energy. Additionally, when exposed to UV rays, mushrooms produce Vitamin D, which is always essential when our skin hasn't been touched by the sun in months. â
â
Spring onions provide a pungent flavour to help move all of this nourishing energy. Without it, all of this dense food can become cloying and gum up digestion. â
What is your favourite winter meal?
