Friends, it has been a wild ride the past two years, lots of changes both personal and professional.

With a move to Picton and, lets be honest, a total life overhaul, I have decided to retire this as my pro account, and use it as a personal page only.

Lots of memories on this page. I started it in 2014 and I love to see my life unfold through the photo tiles. From now on I will be posting personal stuff only... so mostly cats and knitting!

My new professional account is where I will be sharing all things TCM and wellness.

Thank you for your support and love and I will see you on the other page!

Day 1 of the challenge.

Today's Challenge is smelling and looking at your food, something I DEFINITELY do not do enough.
Its so easy to just wolf down food, and it's kind of encouraged in our society ( drive thrus, amirite?)
But looking and smelling your food is actually a very important part of the digestive process. It stimulates areas of the brain which then cause our digestive system to kick start, meaning that the digestive processes which follow will work a lot better and work more efficiently.

So bloating? Feeling sluggish after meals? Take your time and appreciate your food! You'll feel way better, and your digestion will thank you.

Sunday
Gua Sha glow, knitting, and Simpsons reruns.

I LOVE working hard, I am SO excited to be back at school on Monday, I love working on expanding , getting started on the 15 day challenge and making moves for a 2020 which I can be proud of.

But with action must come rest. You simply can't have one without the other. Sundays are a sacred day for resetting, setting your intention for the week and meal prepping ( hey, self care isn't always glamorous!)

What is your favourite Sunday ritual?

Eating for the season🕸️

The cornerstone of natural health is: How can we maintain an internal balance so that our bodies are best able to heal themselves?

An important part of this is eating food which not only fuels our body with the right nutrients but also helps to harmonize what is happening in the world around us with what is happening inside of us.

As the weather becomes colder, we move away from raw fresh fruits and veggies which are no longer in season and are energetically cold. In winter, when the world is cold and congealed and raw, our bodies need food which is denser and richer, things which will nourish us deeply.

Miso is a wonderful food that provides our stomachs with a probiotic hit while also providing the 'Salty' flavour which associated with our foundational Kidney Qi.

Eggs are excellent nourishers of Qi and Blood and moisten the body.

Seaweed is again deeply nourishing for the Kidneys.

Mushrooms are earthy and nourish our digestive energy. Additionally, when exposed to UV rays, mushrooms produce Vitamin D, which is always essential when our skin hasn't been touched by the sun in months.

Spring onions provide a pungent flavour to help move all of this nourishing energy. Without it, all of this dense food can become cloying and gum up digestion.

What is your favourite winter meal?

These three points are some of my favorites for relieving cold symptoms!

Located on the Lung and Large Intestine channels, these points have functions which

X Descend Lung Qi to fight coughs
X Relieve headaches and stiffness of the neck
X Helps to expel pathogens from the Lungs
X Soothes a sore throat
X Regulates the Wei Qi (analogous to the immune response)

I'll often add these points when a patient is starting to feel a cold coming on or has the symptoms of a cold already. Combined with herbs and cupping, it sure does cure what ails you!
