🏀 Roster Announcement | Ontario Junior Team (2025–26) 🏀

The 2025–26 Ontario Junior Team Wheelchair Basketball roster has officially been announced!

These athletes will represent Ontario as they prepare for the Wheelchair Basketball Canada Junior National Championships, part of the pathway toward the Canada Games, held every four years.

A special shout-out to the coaching staff for their leadership and dedication in guiding these athletes.

Volunteers Needed! 🙌🏀

We’re looking for volunteers to help make the Great Lakes Conference Wheelchair Basketball Tournament a success on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8 at Sheridan College – Davis Campus in Brampton.

The tournament will run approximately 7:45am–8:00pm each day, and volunteers will be rotated through roles as needed — you do not need to be available all day to help.

Volunteer roles include:
• Set-up and tear-down
• Operating the game clock
• Operating the score clock
• Filling out the game sheet
• Photography and general event support

✨ No experience needed! Training and support will be provided on-site.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out the sign-up form and indicate your availability. Your support plays a key role in delivering a great tournament experience for athletes, coaches, and fans.

Ontario Para Network is proud to launch the Women’s Disability Sport Webinar Series — a 6-part series designed for female athletes with physical disabilities.

From health, nutrition, and mental performance to funding, motherhood, and coaching considerations, these sessions are built to support athletes on and off the field.

🏀 Wheelchair Sizing Clinic – March 14, 2026

Take your team’s game to the next level! Join us at 3040 Tim Dobbie Drive, Burlington for an exclusive Wheelchair Sizing Clinic.

What’s included:
• $200 per team
• 2 coaches learn the ins and outs of proper wheelchair sizing
• 1 athlete gets professionally sized

Why attend:
Proper chair sizing is essential for maximizing balance, speed, agility, and control on the court. Learn key adjustments, strapping techniques, and how chair specs impact performance—all from an experienced professional.

The City of London has added its Weekly Wheelchair Tennis Program to the registration portal!

📅 January 12 – March 23, 2026 (10 weeks)
🕢 Mondays | 7:30–8:30 PM
📍 North London Optimist Community Centre

Open to athletes of all levels (18+), this inclusive program is a great opportunity to train, rally, and build your skills.

Rideau Sports Centre, in partnership with Tennis Canada, ONPARA, and Ontario Tennis Association, is excited to launch a new weekly Wheelchair Tennis Program in Ottawa!

Whether you’re new to the sport or an experienced player, this program offers two tailored sessions to help you learn, train, and compete in an inclusive and supportive environment.

📅 Dates: January 10 – February 14, 2026
⏰ Times:
• Introductory Group: 1:00 – 2:30 PM
• Advanced Group: 2:30 – 4:00 PM

📍 Location: Court 1, Rideau Sports Centre, 1 Donald St, Ottawa, ON

🎉 Congratulations to Shawn Courchesne! 🎾

Join us in celebrating an incredible year for Shawn Courchesne, one of Canada’s fastest-rising stars in wheelchair tennis!

Shawn’s 2025 season was nothing short of exceptional. He captured back-to-back quad singles titles in Setúbal, Portugal — marking the first ITF singles championships of his career. He followed that up with a dominant performance at the 2025 Birmingham National Wheelchair Tennis Championships, earning both the quad singles and doubles national titles.

To cap off this remarkable year, Shawn was recognized by Tennis Canada as the 2025 Wheelchair Tennis Most Improved Player of the Year, a well-deserved honour reflecting his dedication, growth, and impact on the sport.

Congratulations, Shawn! Your hard work, passion, and commitment to inclusion continue to inspire athletes across Ontario and Canada.
