Toronto Birth Centre

Toronto Birth Centre The Toronto Birth Centre aims to create an environment that supports diverse communities in Toronto.

This safe and welcoming space is open to you and your registered midwife to create the kind of birth experience you’d like to have. Families using the Toronto Birth Centre are encouraged to incorporate their own culture, background, traditions and preferences in their experience. Supporting Aboriginal families through pregnancy and birth is a particular focus of the Toronto Birth Centre. TBC is a midwife lead birth facility, paid for by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care for Ontario residents. Visit our website to learn more about the midwifery practices affiliated with the TBC: http://www.torontobirthcentre.ca/finding-a-midwife/

There’s more to the Toronto Birth Centre than giving birth. The Toronto Birth Centre is committed to being a resource for information and support for women, families and communities in the city. Prenatal classes, access to alternative care providers, educational opportunities, referrals and community partnerships provide extra support for pregnancy, labour, birth, breastfeeding and parenting. Throughout everything we do, we hold a sacred commitment to our core values: self-determination, equity, dignity, and justice.

Today marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

On this day, we remember and honour the lives of Indigenous children who endured the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical abuse and often inevitable death of attending the Indian residential school system - a direct attack and act of genocide of the Canadian government targeting Indigenous communities and children that operated from 1831 to 1996.

We call upon the Canadian, provincial and municipal governments and all settlers and non-Indigenous people living on these lands today to make good on the 94 Calls to Action laid out by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (June 2015).

💖 We are excited to announce our 4000th delivery at Toronto Birth Centre. TBC is so proud to be able to host spaces for folks to birth in a way that feels good for them and their support people! Thank you to the family, Midwife Tamara from Seventh Generation Midwives Toronto, the BCA team, and all those who make TBC a culturally safer and more welcoming space for newborns and their families
