For the month of Nov we supported the great foundation at Tropicana Community Services. They were one of our first charities we supported in the first year of Move For Change. A little about them…
Tropicana Community Services, a Toronto-based multi-service organization, provides all youth, newcomers, people of Black and Caribbean heritage and others in need with opportunities and alternatives that lead to success and positive life choices. Our mission is achieved through culturally appropriate programs such as counselling, child care, educational and employment services and youth development.

What a great year! So grateful for everyone who moved, donated, shared, and cheered this year. Because of you, we were able to raise funds for some truly amazing foundations and communities in need.

For the month of Nov we supported the great foundation at Youth Assisting Youth. They were one of our first charities we supported in the first year of Move For Change. A little about them…
Youth Assisting Youth is dedicated to investing in the leaders of tomorrow and transforming the lives of at-risk and newcomer youth through the power of mentorship. For over 40 years, we’ve paired volunteer young adult mentors aged 16-29, with youth ages 6-15 to engage in activities aimed to develop mind, body, character, and leadership skills.

For the month of October we are proud to support Jamaica. Hurricane Melissa, a powerful Category 5 storm, has passed, leaving widespread devastation across Jamaica.
Thousands of people have been affected, with families displaced, homes destroyed, and livelihoods shattered. Now begins the hard road to recovery. Together, let’s stand ready to help families rebuild their homes, restore their lives, and bring hope back to our nation.
We what to thank you to all those who have donate and supported Jamaica during these tough times.. Every day, week and month is a reminder to get out there and Move For Change!

Half Ironman ✅ Youth mentor ✅ Community builder ✅ The journey continues! 💪

What a year 2023 was! From conquering my first Half Ironman (those hills though! 😅) to volunteering with amazing kids at Start2Finish's running & reading program.

The 6-hour race tested everything I had, but seeing my family along that course made every hill worth climbing. Nothing beats the feeling of finding your rhythm in the final run after a grueling swim and bike!

The best part? Taking these athletic lessons into my volunteer work with kids, showing them how movement creates strength in all areas of life.

Next up: Our May 4th, 2024 fundraiser for Don Mills CI! $150,000 to build an outdoor fitness area that will transform our community. Nervous? Yes. Ready for the challenge? ABSOLUTELY!

Movement creates change. On the race course. In young minds. In our community. One step at a time.

📣 FROM 5KM RUNS TO ULTRA MARATHONS: MY JOURNEY BEGINS. THE CREATION OF MOVE FOR CHANGE📣

In 2020, as a new father navigating a pandemic world shaken by George Floyd’s death, I found purpose in the streets of Don Mills, Toronto. What started as a way to process my emotions evolved into Move For Change.

It all began with a simple commitment: $1 donated for every kilometer I ran to support BIPOC youth organizations. Within weeks, friends and family joined the movement, and together we turned physical wellness into meaningful social change.

From casual 5km runs to marathons, ultra marathons, triathlons and even a Half Ironman, this journey has transformed not just my life, but the lives of countless others through our fundraising efforts.

This is just the beginning of my story. Follow along as I share the full 4-year journey of Move for Change, the challenges faced, milestones reached, and the community we’ve built together.

At Move For Change on Giving Tuesday we want to spot light Ubuntu Collective. They help create programs that bring people together to create an impact in our communities.
They have monthly meal programs and over the holiday season, they hold a holiday initiative to help even more families and youth in shelters such as Covenant House, Sistering, St. Felix and Gerstein.
We want to thank the team at Ubuntu and all those who contribute to plant those seeds of giving for our communities.
