Today marks the first day of Black History Month. Here in Canada, we celebrate 30 years since the motion was introduced by Dr. Augustine. The motion passed unanimously in December 1995.

The 2026 national theme“ Honoring Black Brilliance Across Generations – From Nation Builders to Tomorrow's Visionaries," celebrates Black Excellence Past. Present and Future.

While Black history is every day, we encourage everyone to take the opportunity this month, to learn and reflect on the injustice Black individuals have and continue to face, but also to celebrate the amazing contributions they have and continue to make.

We are all connected as a community (nation). How we continue to be change makers and advocate for justice and equity starts with these simple steps.

Black History Month has important deep significant roots.

Our holiday care packages are available for pick up next week.

Did you know we offer care packages.

What's a care package, you ask? That's a good question. A care package is a box or bag of items, put together with love, that provide essential items and resources to someone. They can contain various things and items that can help support an individual and their family.

BREATHE Midwives has various packages to serve our community.

Our first package is our sexual and reproductive health package. They support infants, youth and young adults, prenatal and postpartum individuals, and peri-menopause individuals.

These contain essential items that help indivudals in their sexual and reproductive lifestages. These packages are available throughout the year. They contain items such as:
- Menstrual pads
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Cold packs

Our nourishment packages provide various items to help ensure individuals and families have access to some snacks and meals. As part of our food security and nutrition initiative. We have various programs that include our nourishment packages.

Interested in getting one of our packages? It's easy! Visit our website and register. Based on availability, we will contact you when it's ready for pick up.

The holidays are a time of increased insecurity for many individuals.

While many individuals love the holidays, not everyone has the opportunity to be surrounded by love, joy, and family. Food insecurity, isolation, depression and financial strain are heightened during this time.

We want everyone to be supported and connected.

We are collecting various items to fill our care pacakges to ensure that no one goes hungry or does not have access to the basic items they need.

Our villiage needs you to add a moment of hope, support, and joy this holiday season.

We are collect items from November 23rd to December 12th, 2025 so we have enough time to organize and put things together to disperse to the community. We have posted a brief list of some of thr items we want to collect.

Did you know we have a Lending Library?
We have various equipment, items, devices, and tools that you can borrow if you aren't able to get access to one.

We want people to make their health a priority and don't want there to be any barriers to achieving that.

Our items include things like blood pressure machines, pregnancy belts, tens machines, and breast pumps.
