Canada Health Infoway Integrating digital health into the health care experience.

Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) is a not-for-profit organization that was created in a collaborative effort by the federal, provincial and territorial governments in 2001. Infoway helps to improve the health of Canadians by working with partners to accelerate the development, adoption and effective use of digital health across Canada. Through our investments, we help deliver better quality and access to care through a more efficient delivery of health services for patients and clinicians. Our social media content provides Canadians with information about the benefits and value of digital health tools, how to effectively use digital health tools and new developments in the digital health space that can be helpful to Canadians. We will also share information about new activities and programs supported or developed by Infoway and content from our partners. Save the date for the 2026 Infoway Partnership Conference, taking place Nov. 16-18 at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver.

This year’s theme, “Scaling Connectivity: Advancing Canada’s Connected Care System,” reflects the next stage in the evolution of Connected Care in Canada. The 2026 program will explore how progress across pan-Canadian standards, Trust Framework development, vendor mobilization and frontline implementation is converging to enable scalable connectivity across the health system.

Stay tuned as we reveal more about the program and kick-off registration this spring.

Strengthening continuity of care starts with ensuring health information can follow people across programs—and the Indigenous Diabetes Health Circle (IDHC) is taking an important step in that direction.

IDHC is an Indigenous-led not-for-profit organization dedicated to strengthening community capacity to reduce the impact of diabetes by promoting holistic wellness models.

With support from our 2025 Connected Care Innovation Grant, IDHC is onboarding new clinics into its EMR to ensure client records are managed consistently and effectively across programs. This project will improve access to health information for Indigenous communities, enhance continuity of care, and support safer care delivery by reducing the risk of errors.

At the 2025 Infoway Partnership Conference, a message that came through clearly is that a connected health system depends on trust and the responsible use of health data.

From conversations about how a national Trust Framework can strengthen confidence in and enable the scalable exchange of secure health data, to discussions on the development of a national Common Agreement designed to reduce duplication and facilitate more seamless data sharing across settings and regions. Trust emerged as a central theme throughout the conference and as foundational to the future of digital health transformation.

Speakers also reinforced a powerful idea. Data is more than numbers; it represents real people, real choices, and real care journeys. From a federal perspective on the critical role data plays in supporting patient outcomes and a sustainable health system, to insights into the Danish health data landscape, we heard how data-driven collaboration can meaningfully impact care.

Looking ahead, trust and health data will remain core themes at the 2026 Infoway Partnership Conference, as we continue to emphasize the importance of aligning policy, governance, and technical standards to enable seamless health data exchange across systems, between care teams, and most importantly, to patients.

More and more clinicians are turning to AI scribes—and telling others to do the same.

With over 14,000 primary care clinicians now registered in our AI Scribe Program, these digital tools are becoming a trusted part of everyday care. In fact, early program results show 98% of users would recommend AI Scribes to a colleague.

This is innovation that spreads, because it works.

The 2026 Pan-Canadian Projectathon kicks off today, bringing together developers and implementers from across Canada to demonstrate the real-world impact of pan-Canadian specifications.

This year’s event is taking place virtually, with our Toronto office serving as the coordination hub.

Over the next three days, participants will collaborate in a non-competitive environment to test and validate digital health solutions in sandbox environments that simulate real-world workflows and data exchange—helping ensure solutions are ready for deployment and aligned with the Shared Pan-Canadian Interoperability Roadmap.

Stay tuned as we share highlights and insights from the event throughout the week!
