The holidays can bring joy but also stress, exhaustion, and emotional overload. When your body and mind are running on empty, it’s natural for intimacy and connection to take a back seat.
Remember: rest isn’t a luxury, it’s the foundation of closeness.
Slowing down, taking mindful breaks, and reconnecting with yourself (and your partner) helps rebuild safety and desire.
Give yourself permission to rest. Your relationship will thank you for it. đź’›

Here’s a question you might not have asked yourself yet this holiday season — but maybe you should.
We’re so quick to rush, plan, and show up for everyone else that we forget to slow down and notice how we’re actually doing.
This reflection question is an invitation to turn inward, even for a few seconds.
Take your time with it. Let it guide you into a deeper understanding of what this season means for you.
Share this with someone who loves a good moment of reflection.

If you’ve been moving through the holidays on autopilot… this is for you.
This time of year can feel heavy, overwhelming, or even a little lonely even when you’re surrounded by people.
That’s why reflection is so powerful. It gives us space to understand what we’re carrying and what we truly need.
Here’s a question that can help you reconnect with yourself in a meaningful way.
Sit with it. Let it land.
And if it resonates, send it to someone who might need this moment of clarity too.

The holidays can pull us in a hundred directions, but here’s one question worth pausing for.
This season isn’t just about doing more. It’s about checking in with yourself, noticing what’s been weighing on you, and giving yourself permission to slow down.
As you watch this reel, take a moment to reflect on the question I’m sharing.
Your answer might surprise you.
Share with someone who could use a gentle pause today.

I met with the awesome yesterday to chat about how to talk to your partner about low desire on .pizza.
Here are the takeaways you need:
✨Your partner’s low desire isn’t rejection—it’s information.
✨Ask with care, listen with heart.
✨Connection grows where understanding lives.

In therapy, we honour how grief shows up in all parts of you not just emotionally, but physically and somatically too.
In what ways has your body carried grief?

Setting boundaries can feel uncomfortable at first but it doesn’t have to be complicated or confrontational.
Boundaries aren’t selfish they’re a form of self care. 💛

Helping and healing in the heart of Greektown - Kat Kova Therapy opens on The Danforth!
Kat Kova Therapy opened in response to the growing need for more inclusive, affordable, trauma-informed help with relational issues, trauma and sexual concerns in the GTA. I, Kat, am a passionate therapist who devotes my spare time to continuing education and personal development. I am also now working on creating wide-reaching content on topics related to mental, emotional, relational and sexual health with the hope of helping others to survive, heal, find solutions to their problems and enrich their lives and relationships. My ultimate goal is to help people from all walks of life (who may or may not be able to access therapy due to structural, social, financial, geographical barriers) become empowered to cope and heal on their own.
Taking care of your mental, emotional, relational and sexual health is no longer considered to be a luxury, it’s an absolute necessity. Our own government is beginning to recognize this and offering more and more coverage for psychological services as a result (check with your insurance provider to see if you are partially or even fully covered for my services). They recognize that at one point or several points in a person’s life, they get stuck and need some help. You do not need to “tough it out” or “go it alone” when this happens. In fact, seeking professional help is the most effective and safest way to traverse the valleys of life so you can get to the peaks sooner and have a different perspective and more skill when you get there. You can relax, leave it to a professional to light the way and follow the path towards greater self-fulfillment, self-mastery and creating a life worth living.
As essential as it is to breathe to survive, so is tending to the gardens of our minds, hearts and souls to create a more livable, tolerable, enjoyable and perhaps even, dare I say it, phenomenal reality! The solution already exists and together we will be better equipped to find it using our own unique skill-sets and a relationship based on trust, openness and non-judgement as resources in our journey. And sometimes, a solution is not really what we need or can expect - we just need someone to witness and hold our story gently as we bravely find the words to describe our most personal, heartbreaking and shameful experiences - you will find this too in the right therapist’s office.
I look forward to honouring your story, helping you reclaim your inner strength, cultivate acceptance, celebrate your identity and improve the quality of your life and relationships (with yourself and others) in my charming office on The Danforth.
